I have not pulled the switch. I'm assuming the Illuminate and ground just light the button.

Or, is pin1 connected to pin2 when the switch is not depressed? This would hold pin2 low until it is depressed.

I was also thinking that the ground and the illuminate are just for the switch light, and you should be able to send a 12v signal to the tan wire on the wiring harness side and to see if that turns the ECT mode off and on.

I just went out and turned the ignition on but didn't start the engine and actuating the ECT switch turns the ECT mode on and off, so sending a 12v signal to the tan wire should confirm that this will work.

^ already tried that. 12v applied to the tan wire did not work.

I just went back and found that I missed that you had already tried that and that it didn't work.

I guess for what I want to do of relocating the ECT switch to the center console, if I can't find the same style connectors that would allow me to make up a plug in play wiring extension harness. I'll have to either remove the ECT switch from the dash, cut the male connector that plugs into the switch along with 3 or 4 inches of the wires and solder the connector and wires to extension leads long enough to reach the new switch location on the center console.

Ok, so simply connecting pin 2 and pin 4 momentarily doesn't work?

I took a jumper wire and touched pin 2-->4, ETC activated. Touched again and it deactivated. But the weird thing is I try and apply regular 12v to that wire(jumped power of the cig lighter for testing) and it didn't do anything.
It's pretty simple, like my diagram previously... micro relay tapped off the start signal for a monetary pulse, which closes the contacts and jumps the connection between the 2 ETC wires. I just haven't had time to dig into it further

Ok so pin4 is also coming from the ecu, not just battery 12v. The ecu must be sensing that two of its I/Os are connected at the same potential.
So you have to tap the pink wire and run it through the relay per the diagram.

When the switch is not depressed, are pin1and 2 connected?

as i stated in this thread and do not mean to butt in but since you mention relocate how difficult would it be to identify the wire from the folder button in the steering wheel and disable it and make it the ECT button. seems it would be the easiest and clean way and would be right at your finger tips. could always re use the ECT button as the folder button if you can not live without that function. i find this thread very interesting even though it is way over my head......

I haven't looked that switch on the steering wheel, but I doubt its has the same function as the ECT switch, and I don't know if I want to go to the trouble to find out, and having the ECT located on the center console where I can easily reach it will work for me.

    Okay UPDATE*****
    Weirdest thing,
Started/drove fine after I ran a few errands. On the ~3rd start cycle I put it in gear and got a check engine/trac control light on.:frusty:
Truck still drives normal.. so I unhooked battery and did a quick reset, All clear.

I have unhooked it from the purple "start signal" wire until I can re-evaluate it.
Not sure if ECT is turning on too soon before the truck fully starts, or if there is some data in that start wire(shouldn't)
I am going to try to activate it a different way.maybe tag off nuetral light so every time I put it in gear ECT turns on.
Back to the drawing board... SOO close!

Dude that blows. Thanks for posting up. I was going to mod this weekend, but maybe on the N or R tap.

I left everything connected just pulled the tap off START wire. Truck is fine. I'm thinking the ECT is turning on way too soon before anything has a chance to boot up. I am going to go off R or N, so the truck has time to "start up" before activating ECT mode

Just need a timed relay and use any ignition 12v feed.

I won't have time until this weekend. Keep pathfinding for us man!

I'll try the TD relay approach this weekend.

If that's the case maybe you'll have to try the adjustable timer
