To an extent, I disagree with this part. None of us, ok, possibly. If you had said nobody, then I would completely disagree.

I’d like to believe people want to be good, I’m constantly proven wrong.

I have spoken with a used car salesman or two so, yeah people like that do exist.

One guy I worked with, the foreman, lived to create chaos. He said something just to piss someone off, the guy laughed and walked away. So he never turned away from his desk. The next guy got mad, so he turned and rubbed it in further, just to make the guy angrier.

I stand corrected. Yes, they do walk among us. I try my best to forget certain people I’ve crossed paths with, and now dammit, you bring some of them to mind for me.

So let's pretend your truck has intermittent instances when it plain won't start. Turn the key and nothing, no sound at all. Maybe once a month or every 100 or so starts. No rhyme or reason in terms of engine temp/distance travelled but if you wait a bit (insert random time) it will start up as normal.

You take the truck to the dealer and they check all the usual suspects; battery, starter etc and they hook it up and nothing. The service guy shrugs says it was probably a freak thing or maybe a bad ECU. So you continue living your life and it continues to happen rarely.

You don't like the uncertainty of turning the key and not knowing. It's like living a bad game show. You take it to an independent mechanic and they basically say maybe the ECU is bad but they don't know. Dealers are there to make money. Independent is the way to go as they didnt sell you the car, unless warranty works or doesnt.

Do you sell this and not disclose the issue.....asking for a friend

That doesnt sound like a Toyota. I paid 600 to find a loose knock sensor connection that took all fall to figure out, disabled me into limp mode so I never knew when I could trust it. Independent mechanic and throw some money at it. You can disconnect the battery and reconnect it to get out of limp mode sometimes.

Forgot, yes tell them but your going to loose money no one will want to buy that. Why I was saying try to find a better shop.

If you're trading it in, no.
