We ordered a receiver hitch, harness, etc from these folks and what arrived was pretty sad. The UPS guy even commented how badly this was packed. Speaking with the CSR left a bad taste.

Anyone have a recommendation for a similar outlet? Maybe one that doesn't use bicycle boxes to ship receiver hitches?

    Thanks!

I used to install hundreds of trailer hitches and 95% of them were always shipped beat to hell. Curt shipped theirs with just have a couple pieces of cardboard around the tubes and some plastic wrap around the receiver part. Or atkeast that’s how we got them from our distributor. I think drawtites used to come in boxes that were so so packaged. As long as the shipping companies didn’t beat the hell out of the boxes they weren’t too bad. Factory hitches always had the best finishes and were wrapped the best.

Question is does the factory receiver install about the same as the others or is it a complete pita? This would be a one of for me.

unfortunately....heavy items such as hitches or in my case, an axle, don't fare well during shipping. there's too much banging around with not enough packing around the item. i put blame on the vendors. take he cheap route with proper packaging. I was lucky in that the company sent me a new one and just let me keep the bangged up one. which turned out to be salvageable. What can you do? some companies make you pay for returns.

factory hitches attach to the bumper and frame using a bracket that isn't present on a truck without the tow package. I'd guess that its a much better setup if you can find a stock takeoff from someone that replaced their whole bumper

Heavy things like hitches don't ship well, and over course the shipper says its etrailers fault. I've had a winch, front and rear receivers all shipped from different companies and they all looked like hell when I got them. Most coilovers with springs attached won't look pretty either, the truth is these things need to be shipped in wooden boxes, but thats way to expensive so this is what we get.
