Etune screen going black

For some reason over the last week when I shift from reverse to drive my Etunes screen will stay black until I touch a button such as Audio. The start screen is normal. Back up camera is working. I can hear music as per usual.

Has anyone else had this issue or know of a fix? Not a big deal but just a little annoying to always have the screen black unless I mess with it.

Mine is intermittent. It's getting pretty annoying.

 

I was under the impression that once they go black they never go back.

 

mine just started doing it last week for the first time.
actually idk if it's related but it started right after that update i just had.

 

Good point with the update. I didn't have the issue at all before that. Though I don't think it started immediately after the update.

 

mine did this for a while when I had the notification every time for the 5k maintenance due. It was also right after an update. Then about 2 weeks later, I received another update to the headunit and it quit doing it. That's also about the time I took it in for the 5k service, so I don't know which one made it quit doing it.

 

Definitely sounds like software.

 

Mine doesnt do this...yet...however, it does reset itself frequently when my iphone is plugged into the usb port. Super annoying, especially when you are using navigation and it resets itself, you are forced to reset the navigation. I have resorted to using the navigation on my phone just because of this. I am not a fan of the entune system.

 

Entune reboots constantly whenever it is raining... f'ing annoying!!!

 

We just got our first rain in a long time and mine kept resetting

 

if you are close to your 5k service interval, the screen will go blank trying to show the service reminder on the main screen. this happens on my 14 4runner and the 16 highlander. just go in the manual and do the service reminder reset and the screen will go back to normal.

or hit a button.

 

at my 5k service the dealer said sorry it won't do it when we drive ur truck, i knew they would say that

 

Mine just stopped doing it randomly last week and has not started again. I have been past the 5k service reminder for awhile now.

 

Mine just did it twice on a two hour drive. Intermittent rain and iPhone plugged in to charge. HD radio was very intermittent also.
