I have a garmin nuvi 3790. Its an old one I got a while back. Its sleek though.

Im about to buy a that GPS app...

May start looking at a good GPS unit for me that can do offroad stuff as well. Got a lot of travelling to do this year.

 

Yeah a dedicated unit is way better, I've been taking GIS classes and the difference between GPS data from a phone and a dedicated unit is significant. My phone would be off by up to 25 ft with any interference, the dedicated unit I used was accurate to 3 ft.

 

Use your phone. You will always have it one you and you can use it in an offline mode. I just bought the GAIA GPS app on google play. Time to play with it a bit.

The issue with the phone is other notifications on the phone popping up, or having to go out of the app, etc.

Would rather have a dedicated unit that is mounted in the truck with a nice big screen that is easy to see.
