Depends on environmental conditions and the EV itself. EV's currently have a 'phantom drain' that uses electric to cool or heat the batteries to safeguard the batteries. Keeping an EV plugged in for an extended period of non use is a good idea and with current EV battery chemistries it's essential to keep them plugged in during the cold of winter. Upcoming battery tech may not require battery heating or cooling.

It’s good to keep them plugged in to keep the battery topped off and warmed up a bit but there’s no reason other than that. This is based on first hand experience leaving my Rivian outside all winter in sub freezing and often sub zero temps and not having it plugged in.

The Tesla P-85 I would drive would get a regen and acceleration limit warning until the batteries warmed a bit if it wasn't plugged in during a cold snap overnight

Yeah I'm mostly wfh and my office is only 5 miles away and kid's school is 0.9 miles. I average about 5-6k total in a year. My 2010 car only has 83k on it. I guess that's why I was thinking a phev for a bit as the 30mile EV range would be more than enough for me. Hell I'd do a golf cart if I could haha.

Dood, get an e-bike. They're actually pretty fun to ride and you can lock it up right by the front door. You could get one with the kiddo seat and utility basket. Total dad status

Almost doesn't make sense to buy anything fairly new given that low mileage.

I joined the WFH brigade March 2020. At the time I think my truck had about 108-9K. It has just hit 136K. Roughly 26 miles round trip times 5 a week knocked off it right there. Plus for that 18 month period I wasn't going to concerts or my league matches (as neither was happening, nor would I have gone anyways).

Wife has a 2014 Rav4 we got in 2019 with 16K and around 54K now but she does 10k a year tops.

Yea, I’ve been driving over 30k a year for the past 5 years. It’s why I drive a shit Lexus CT. I’m one of the few that would actually see significant savings with an EV but I park on the street so charging isn’t really feasible at home since I’d have to charge every night.

Just more hype from the Toyota FUD machine. Given how clueless and late to the game they've been so far, I doubt I will ever own an other Toyota after my Tacoma.

I will need to take a picture at the Buc-ees by me. The tesla chargers probably span 1/2 to 1/3 the length of the gas station.

Has anyone seen the new hummer in the wild?

I passed one and was not impressed. Looks like a bro that goes to the gym every day but always skips leg exercises.

There are Tesla owned chargers next to gas stations not associated with Tesla, placed there by Tesla. But to have the gas station bring in private Tesla superchargers is something new.

Yes, several times. It is a disgusting abomination. Hummer is repeating all the mistakes that put them out of business the first time, now just at a higher price point. It is pathetic.

I used a Tesla super charger for the first time this past Sunday. Took the Y to the Sabres game in Buffalo and the software suggested I stop for a charge before the trip home. We stopped at the Cheektowaga super charger location which is right by the expressway. The Y went from 45% battery to 70% battery in about 12 minutes. The process was super easy, just parked, plugged in and unplugged when we were ready to leave. There are several restaurants at the location but we just stayed in the car for the 12 minutes.

I should add the cost was 9 bucks.

The batteries charge fastest when in a low state of charge, by 45% it has already slowed down some. So if you were in a lower state of charge that +25% could happen much faster. Superchargers are so much easier than 3rd party chargers where you need to download an app, create an account, link your credit card. Scan the stall you are at, before you can even start charging.
