11mpg is... Pretty dismal. Like I said, if we're trying to offset the use of fuel with an EV why would we run a generator to power it and end up using more fuel than an actual ICE vehicle? It would also be worth wondering if the emissions are better or worse than an ICE vehicle.

Over all I think it's pretty agreeable that the emissions, human rights travesties, dangerous child labour, literal pillage and destruction of the earth kind of defeats the purpose of EVs right now no matter which way we look at it. The tech is shit. There's a lot to wait out before a lot of people go full EV and I feel that's understandable.

All those issues are constantly being addressed. Oil pillages the earth more than EV battery mineral mining. That's the shit tech.

I just read an article that the new Hummer is going to have a curb weight of 9000 pounds, gross rating of 10.5k.

Imagine the equivalent of a UHaul box truck that can pull a 3 second 0-60.

I'm calling it now, that electric Hummer is going to kill people. Ain't no way that the average driver can sling a commercial weight class around a corner with sports car like handling. Imagine what will happen when it comes off a mountain pass running a little hot.

How many people who want to buy a truck to use as a truck would want to drive this thing?

This truck is absolutely horrendous to look at. The design has been well executed for what it is, but what it is, isn't a truck most people would want.

I can't imagine most businesses would want to buy this thing and put it in service as a fleet vehicle. Not with the F-150 Lightning coming to market before the Cyber Truck. That's only if said business would want to go electric to start with.

I don't see a lot of current Tesla drivers wanting anything to do with a truck.

It won't be long before EVs are limited to how fast they will be off the line. The manufacturers will probably implement this before any outside influence gets involved.

Hopefully it has enough nanny traction controls to stop that. Otherwise we’ll see some unfortunate accidents/head-on collisions on the highway due to this heavy giant off-roader easily jumping over dividers.

I personally think that's the wrong way to go. I think they should be limiting the weight instead. Theres no reason to have a passenger vehicle that tips the scales at 9000 pounds, empty. That's more than just a waste of energy, moving the weight of two cars through stop and go traffic, it's massively unsafe.

The hummer is just a bloated bling mobile. GM wants to recapture their lost Hummer market.

The new Hummer will be expensive to own. Insurance will probably be high, and maintenance out of warranty will be expensive. I can't see many of those trucks being sold.

What do you think the real world range for something like that will be?

I don't know what range GM claims for the Hummer but real world will be substantially less.

It supposedly has 1.3 Million reservations. How true that is we don’t know, could be a number thrown out there to drive up stock price.

Don’t see it being a fleet vehicle, more of a fan boy truck much like the Tacoma. Love mine, but even I admit it does nothing well.

Heard it comes with a lifetime supply of viagra… :p

Real world I bet the center of the bell curve will be 200-250 miles. Like the civilian Humvee, most of them won't venture much beyond city driving.
