The nice thing about oil/gas harvest though, at least in the sands/surrounding forested areas, is that dried wells can often be used for geothermal energy because the wells are so damn deep. Fort Nelson has done this and I believe one geothermal plant investment will be able to power 14,000 homes in the area, plus 100 heated greenhouses for year round sustainable produce, and it will produce some (though I don't believe they have an amount yet - that wasn't the main goal of these projects) lithium.

They'll also be selling energy back to the BC power grid providing significant cash flow, development, and education to communities in the area because there are only 800-900 homes in the area. This is a great read out of Fort St John, but the project is held by the Fort Nelson First Nations some hours further north. https://energeticcity.ca/2021/10/06/fort-nelson-first-nation-ready-to-lead-in-geothermal-energy/

    https://arstechnica.com/cars/2022/04/nissan-nasa-aim-to-ditch-rare-pricey-metals-in-solid-state-batteries/

Nissan is partnering with NASA on a computational approach to developing all-solid-state batteries that don’t rely on rare or expensive metals, the AP has reported.

The automaker, which was the first to market with an affordable, mass-produced electric vehicle in the Leaf, is clearly hoping to make up for lost time. Nissan has floundered of late with its electrification strategy. Its second EV, the Ariya, is scheduled to arrive this fall, some 12 years after the first Leaf was sold. The company hopes that its in-house solid-state batteries will debut in passenger vehicles by 2028.

You know what's not going to drive EV adoption?

Toyota will be putting SS in their hybrids in the next few years. Like a test of sorts.

I'd love a solid state replacement for my R4P's battery in ten years.

I'm thinking it will be on the Sequoia/LC frame. Just longer I bet.

Seems weird they’d kill the Land Cruiser then bring over another nameplate

Well the Lexus version of the Land Cruiser is available in the US. The new Sequoia is basically an LC 300 but less bling and available in the US.

Right, so where does the Crown fit that the LC didn’t?

It won't slot fill for the LC. It will be for a high end buyer/executive market. It would be above the Lexus and they are typically chauffeur vehicles. Most likely starting over $100k
