My truck has a leak in the fuel tank (at the halfway point where the seam is) and I'm having the tank replaced next week. I've been trying to keep the tank below half but last night when it got down to less than a quarter I got a check engine light and read the codes P0442 and P0446. My girlfriend's father who is a mechanic said that the light will keep coming on when the tank is empty because the tank is not pressurized once the fuel level goes below the hole. He said it won't effect the driving and I should be fine until the new parts come in next week. Do you guys think it's okay to drive it with these codes on my hour long commute until next week or am I risking doing more damage?
