The 6MT is great in this truck. They want you to buy an automatic

My observations have been vastly different. Supply side is down, boredom-buying is up. Trucks, RVs, and boats are flying off the lot faster than they can replenish. Sales guys know they dont even have to put the work into them. They could drop trou and take a fat shit in the bed, and that Tacoma will still move before the weekend.

Car sales appear to be down though I haven't looked at the hard numbers. Your dealer lot is packed to the gills with dust covered camrys and avalons. Motorbikes seem to be an anomaly too, nobody wants a Harley right now.

Strange, I must of got one of those rare good ones. i've had my 2020 over a year with none of those issues. The only gremlin has been a sensor that seems to be too sensitive. I just turn that safety system off.

This. It’s a sales guy trick to make you buy a truck they have in stock instead of trying to track a 6MT down.

It is the smoothest shifting vehicle I have ever driven (‘20).

Not that my frame of reference is tremendous,

Some early 90s pos Pontiac I borrowed from my boss in college on occasion.

All the complaints I read here about the AT I do not exp with my stick. I only added the super charger for extra hp to tow a camper with more relative ease. Which took mine from perfectly fine to drive to fun to drive.

1g is the best but it’s not bc the 3g’s blow.

Must be a trend with salesmen. Went to a dealer to buy a newish 4runner, and two salesmen did everything in their power to make me not want to buy anything.

I keep getting hand written letters from my dealer asking me to trade in my second gen for a 3rd since they are in “high demand and will give me 125% of blue book”

I hear what you all are saying regarding sales tactics and such, but the first Toyota employee to give me his negative opinion (regardless of transmission) was a guy in parts, who prior to being in parts was in service years ago, well before the release of the 3rd gen. And I don't hate the 3rd gen, I simply can't find one to drive to formulate my own opinion; I just wanted to share what Toyota said to me.

Im on my second 3rd gen. Had a early model 2016 Off Road, only issue was the AC blower motor crapped out 4200 miles and the shifting was a bit wonky. The factory revisions made it shift fine (in my opinion, some people still hate it. I have my theories on this but I cant prove anything so I keep them to myself.). Other than that it was flawless. So far my 2021 has 5800 miles and its had a couple of trim flaws from new. Both have been taken care of under warranty without heartache. The leather wrap on my steering wheel was loose at the 10:00 position, probably would have been fine for years to come but it bothered me and they didnt even blink when I asked it to be fixed. At 4600 miles I already wore a hole through the drivers floormat. They heard floormat and jumped to getting me a new set, no big deal. The USB data port in the dash is loose, so they have one of those on order for me. While I could nitpick and criticize things all day long, I could honestly do that about literally any car on the road. Some of them, we just dont have that kind of time. The Tacoma isn't one of them.

Since the third gen started in 2016, I dont understand you're point. I assume you meant to type 2015?

I work at a Jaguar/Land Rover dealer and we broke records. But I assume our more affluent client base was less impacted by the economy on average than some of the less expensive brands (Even though my Tacoma stickers for more than some the JLR cars on our lot).
