I think he was referencing the last year without TSS.

Cause somehow it isn't manly enough if you have push buttons and safety alerts.

Well. I daily my tacoma and occasionally play on the trails. So i'll keep all the comforts. Of course, even my racecar has AC and power steering. So I guess I am not all that is man.

It amuses me how many times Ive seen those confuse people. I got into a huge argument when a buddy threw the lever in 4H and kept driving, and I asked him if he realized that he was still 2 wheeling.

Like many things, the most unreliable part is the user.

I also have a gripe...I traded my 2007 model for the 2018 model (Manual Transmission) and, while there are many obvious improvements to this model - one of them is not overall quality and hardiness. Just going down a rough road on a cold day caused one of the plastic fasteners in the front wheel fender to break and the fender popped out at that place. The solution - purchase a whole new fender as the plastic retainers are part of the fender.

I feel ripped off and should have put money into my 2007 model with 216,000 miles on it.

Nothing across the board is built like it used to be. My 02 Lexus has a better fit and finish than my Tacoma 16 years newer. Unfortunately there’s no money in making things last forever anymore. With that being said I love the Tacoma and I wouldn’t trade it for anything on the market today. We all wouldn’t be here if we didn’t think it was the best thing out there right?

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

That has a lot more to do with advertising saturation and number of trucks produced than quality of vehicle.

The numbers sold keep going up because the numbers produced keep going up.

But hey... you just keep living the dream.

I assume you mean the wheel arch moulding? And id be willing to bet $20 that any parts guy worth his salt could have found a functional clip. I do it all the time.

Reminds me of back in the day I went with my brother as he was shopping for a (used)

pickup. Salesman comes up and asks what he wants. Brother lays out TRD, 4x4, blah blah blah. Guy starts talking about how badass his Z71 is.

This was at a TOYOTA dealer.

Yes, but that doesn't mean badmouthing what's not on the lot.

Ill share an industry secret about dealerships.

Most dealerships will hire anyone who can fog a mirror and pass a piss test to sell cars.

And that is exactly why I love dealing on new and used cars. The salesman usually doesn't know much about said vehicle, so I walk all over them with incorrect terminology, and unavailable features to guage their knowledge. Then, it's game on!!!

At that point the only "Tacoma" that is a tacoma is a 1st gen, 2nd gen are midsize trucks rather than compact pickups.

Or you can just fix it all and call 1st gens toyota pickups and once you hit 2nd gens, start with the tacoma name. 2nd and 3rd are closer to each other than 1st is close to either of them. (closest to pickups of late 70's to mid 90's, in styling, size, and how simple they are.)

Sounds like they wanted to sell you an auto they have rather than a manual they don't...

Toyota is trending in the wrong direction. The American makes offer as many as 5-6 engines per model. In an f-150 you can get a hybrid, a diesel, a twin turbo v6, a turbo charged v6 and a 302 v8, similar with a 1500 GM

The Colorado has a diesel, so does Jeep.
Toyota is talking about a hybrid trucks that by time they come out will cost in excess of $70k for a Tundra and I bet over $50k for a Tacoma, pretty much pricing most people out of the market, so all you’re stuck with is the same platforms with 1 or 2 engines with lack luster power or horrible fuel economy.

I have completely lost interest in their brand as I did with American makes in the 2000’s.

My next truck will be an oil burner Chevy, they have a 3.0l Duramax that gets close to 30mpg and has 450 ft lbs of torque and is only $3000 more than the standard power plant, not to mention the infotainment and interior is like a decade ahead of Toyota

As long as you go into it knowing that Chevy/GM have more trucks in the most unreliable truck top 10 than anyone else. Good luck to you Chebby boys.

I’ll eat my words on the GM makes. A projected reliability rating of under 20 out of 100 for half tons and not much more for mid-size.

I’ve had 5 Toyotas in 27 years, my Tacoma for 15 of those. I want a half ton, but I’m not happy with a Tundra for the lack of innovation and shit mileage.

maybe I’ll wait til the hybrid Tundra releases and sell a kidney or something

I don't think that's much of a secret to anyone who has spent more than 3 minutes with a car salesman.
