My girlfriend and I went to a secluded beach and it was soft sand all the way in (about 3/4 of a mile) with a big sand hill down to the beach. On the way in, this guy in a F150 pulled up and ask if I think my truck can make it. I told him it shouldn't be a problem. He laughed. Then I told him I'm not familiar with the spot so I'll follow him in. He got stuck 1/2 way in and I drove around him, asked if he wanted me to pull him out. He said his buddy is gonna pull him out. Turns out his buddy drives a 4Runner. HAHA.

He went in, made it down the hill to the beach. When it came time to leave, he was leaving too. They stopped and watched to see if I get stuck on the hill. I made sure to put my truck in 4wd. Made it up just fine, lost traction a little bit but I walked my way up the hill. I stopped at the top and watched for him to come up. Sure enough he got stuck, and I had to pull him up.

I have only had a couple people try to give me a hard time. My father-in-law has a framing business and needed a 16ft trailer of scrap and trash hauled off. The guy that normally does it for him didn't want to because he said his truck didn't handle the trailer well when it was loaded down. I went over, hooked up to it, and walked away with it. (It helps when you put some of the heavier items over the axles) The next day they didn't have much to say about my "cute" truck.

i'm on a snow plow forum aswell and its bad over there. brand bashing goes on constantly. i sold my chevy 2500hd for my taco. thing was a beast but more than i needed. i have the small plow on my truck and "they" claim its to weak. we'll see. imo toyota makes the best mid size truck there is period.

there's always the "buy American" comment everytime someone mentions a foreign truck. f@#$ them. i make the payments and i did five years in the navy to support all americans so i drive what i want. i feel i've earned it.

They're lucky I have a double cab cause that's where they end up riding when the fire roads end.

I've noticed a couple chevys gunning it in the passing lane and what not. Would have bothered me when I was younger. Driving a V6 mustang around cures you of it pretty quick.

The funny thing is that it's usually a POS truck that has a giant tailpipe and just wants to be an ass and make some noise.

When I bought my last 05 it was right after a friend bought a new F150. It was a nice truck a 4 door 5.4 liter 4x4 with the Lariat package. It stickered for almost twice what my 4 cylinder tacoma did I think. My truck wasn't totally problem free but I didn't do anything but routine maintenance for the first 75k miles. His had a number of extended stays at the dealer for warranty work. He got $15k for it with 85k on it 2 years ago when he bought a new F250. I got $11,900 for my 4 cylinder extracab with 102k on it 3 weeks ago... I like Fords, I own a Mustang, and I would rather drive a fusion than a camry. But I don't ever see myself owning an american fullsize truck. I've had nothing but Toyota's for trucks for over 20 years.

I never really get any flack from anyone, just compliments.

I have nothing against American trucks, my first vehicle was a 1979 F-150. What a monster. I kind of miss it sometimes. However, it seems like American quality has gone downhill in the past few decades. I had a Ranger a few years back and it was dollar for dollar the biggest piece of shit I ever owned. The company truck that I drive at work is a 2006 F-150, and it sucks. It feels like it's going to fall apart every time I drive over a bump.

Other night I had a Doge Ram pull up next to me at a red light and when it turned green I took off slow and normal and gradually gained speed up to 55 mph and he stayed right beside me the whole time...then downshifted and hit the gas few times and was still right beside me...think he just like to hear his loud exhaust....at the next red light I took off slow again with him still right beside me in a low gear so I punched it and just pulled away, he tried to keep up but didnt work out.

my little prerunner will be here long after your ford or chevys.thats why top gear picked a toyota to drive to the north pole.the only truck or car to ever do it.not to mention all the warlords out there.that 50cals in a bed of a toyota not a ford or chevy.

my friend is a ford driver. thats all he owned, and probably will own too. one day he pulled into the gas station and yelled out the window " should have bought a ford" i giggled, then went up to him and told him i liked the way the new fords looked, but i couldn't afford one, and pay for the parts/labor constantly, so i just bought a toyota so i could drive it every day, and not have to worie about breaking down later on :p

For those that say their trucks are "more american" than our trucks.

Have a read at the pdf :)

OH! And i love it when i pull up to stock chevy silverado's (the one's before this new facelift) like the one below, and i sit HIGHER than them in a bone stock PreRunner Tacoma!
