I would get one. I've got 3 right now and I loke that one for a truck gun. Perfect to fold up and have on camping trips and such.

Funny how the new Ford GT is supposed to be "all that", and the LMP1 cars just pass them as if they are standing still.

GTE Pro, I believe. Nothing like the LMP1 or LMP2 cars.

"The ACO has defined limits and requirements for the LM GTE category to ensure that cars are legitimately production-based. The car must have "an aptitude for sport with 2 doors, 2 or 2+2 seats, opened or closed, which can be used perfectly legally on the open road and available for sale... The engine must be used in a production car...

Overall, the technical regulations are focused on keeping LM GTE cars relatively close to road cars in terms of parts and dimensions. Aerodynamic devices such as spoilers are heavily regulated. There are also minor requirements that are holdovers from the earlier era of Le Mans, such as requiring at least 150 cubic decimeters of luggage space.

At Le Mans, LM GTE is divided into two classes: GTE-Pro and GTE-Am. GTE-Am cars must be at least one year old or be built to the previous year's spec, and have limits on the quality of drivers allowed in the lineup."

Ford GT is GTE-Pro, which is somewhat similar to LMGT1 from the mid 1990s, i.e. supposed to be "production"-based, but with more BoP fudge factors added in. And just like LMGT1, Ford is abusing the rules by designing a race-oriented chassis and knocking off a few roadgoing samples.

Not abusing the rules, just employing them the same way manufacturers have for decades. Some of the greatest 'road cars' of history are homologation specials. Ferrari 250 GTO for example. From what I've heard so far about the new Ford GT it fits right into that tradition.

Isn't that what Ferrari and Porsche have been doing for years. Making race cars for the road?

No. Ferrari and Porsche typically make high-performance road cars, some of which are converted for racing. Doing the opposite is rare. An example would be the Porsche 911GT1, which is completely devoid of any rear visibility:
