    Are your shocks blown/leaking?

No they're not blown or leaking otherwise they'd have been replaced right away.

Kinda pointless to replace them, especially if your budget is limited. Save the money.

So most that replace their shocks have either blown or leaking issues? Am I the only one looking to make a change because I think the trucks ride could use improvement?

Plus I've always had trucks and always kept them mostly stock. Guess I'm getting the mod bug a bit now.

Shocks wear out.....and they do it gradually. It's NOT perfectly fine until one day it just starts leaking and goes bad. My stock shocks had 68,000 miles on them when I switched to 5100's. HUGE difference in the way it rode. I also changed front coils and added rear leaves for a 3"/2" lift. . IMHO, anything over 30,000 miles and you will see a noticeable improvement in ride quality with simply changing shocks. .

I upgraded my 2005 TRD sport to 5100s and it was a huge improvement. Stocks had over 100,000 miles and 10 years so they were due though.

Mine are not leaking or blown. They are just not performing well after 90k so I am replacing for better and safer ride just as you are.

Good to hear, I have 54k miles. Plus I tow my boat a lot and load the truck frequently and I just feel the truck doesn't give a strong sense of handling, composure, stability or whatever you'd call it. Having said that I never overload the truck.

Ive got the 5100's set to .85 with stock coils. Ride quality improved slightly, but had 90k on the original shocks.

I got 5100's front and back set to no lift. I just wanted a better ride the stock bills suck. It was a huge difference in mine.

If you feel the need to improve "handling" with the shocks, go for it. Other than that, save you money and wait to install shocks, springs, leafs, etc. Also, I love my hankook dynapro atms fwiw.

    Placebo affect.

Some people feel like their cars are faster after they wash it. :goingcrazy:

My shiny oem replacement shocks turned my truck into a trophy truck :burnrubber:

You had 90k on your old shocks so I'm sure you noticed an inprovement.

My comment wasn't directed towards you.

I installed 5100s w\stock sport coils set to .85 at 23k miles. the ride definity improved but not a huge difference.my Main goal was slight lift in order to gain the room to fit a 265\70\17 with out rubbing

Both 4600s and 5100s use a 46mm piston, yes, but a 4600 is not the same as the stock TRD equipment. The OEM Bilsteins are considerably smaller.

I'm pretty sure they're also valved quite a bit differently.
