This. The size difference is very noticeable.

Forgive me father for I have skimmed.

Don't know if it was mentioned or not, but running 5100s at 0 is pointless. The stock 4600s and the 5100s are valved the exact same, so the ride quality would be the same at 0.

Does the size make them ride better? :notsure:

The only time I've noticed a difference is when the original shocks were worn out/blown/leaking.

I replaced my functional 4600's with 2.5/2.0 Icons and the difference wasn't as amazing and magical as some people say there was going from 4600's to 5100's lol

That kind of says it all.
the cost of 5100's and paying to have springs swapped... I feel like just a couple hundred more and I could be getting close to a 3" lift.

    Scratches, dents, lots of squeaks.
I put 5100s on my trd at 32k. Used 884s and set them at 1.875. Truck is stiffer and more responsive. OP if you're looking to just upgrade to TRD coils/billies, I still have mine. Could let em go cheap.

For sure use your stock coils if you are on a budget and want to get a modest lift. If you can get a deal on some used OME or others great!
    Stock coils will work fine.

$170 to be precise. You can get OME 885 coils on Amazon for that price. Pair that with 5100s at 0 and you'll be around 2.5" of lift.

I appreciate the offer. However my wife keeps asking a lot about this whole truck lift thing. Thinking she might pony up a few hundred for me for Christmas. If that happens I could very well step things up a bit. Thinking OME, they seem like top shelf from what I've read. The 5100's leaking bugs me. I know there are plenty of folks without issues but also too many that have issues.

I can't find the thread right now, but there's a big thread dedicated to people complaining that the OME shocks ride like absolute shit. Then they'll switch to 5100s and ome coils and say how the ride is so much better. I'll see if I can dig it up.
