    Some real good fights!

A lot will be said and analyzed, but in my mind there is one quality that AJ displayed tonight, which makes him a superior boxer.

He re-invented himself! Not easy when you are someone who reached his level... but he dug real deep and came out a different fighter. This quality is rare, even in pro fighters.

One thing that surprised me about Ruiz is how I never really saw him try to "cut the ring", cut AJ off, at least try to corner him. I'm not saying that it would have been easy(!), but I haven't even seen any attempts. That's very surprising! He kept chasing and chasing AJ. You'll always be behind the taller guy.

AJ reinvented himself as a fighter, while Ruiz had no plan B. Did he really think AJ was going to play by the same rules as fight no. 1??

I like Ruiz, you don't get to his level by being a slouch, he has my respect, but he's one-sided. People make fun of his body build, he makes fun of himself too, but that body build just makes it much harder to adapt.

standing still yes, he was faster, but you cant just fight like that in the middle of the ring with a fighter like AJ, wilder, and definitely fury (he can move when he wants to). Good thing you did!!

100% agree with you, his movement, accuracy, and taking the fight to AR in a very smart way, was very impressive. However, that being said, AR should have worked on his physical and bring the fight to AJ, that would have been a test for both and i think he would have had a better chance on beating AJ but did not :notsure:

AJ was excellent, simply excellent by taking away Ruiz's advantage - fast hands in close quarters.

His clinching, while maybe boring for the casual observer, was fantastic. You could say "what's the big deal to clinch", and it's true, clinching by itself isn't hard to do. What's hard is having the discipline to do it constantly.

I also agree 100%! I have no way of knowing this for sure, just speculating, but I believe a slimmer, fitter Ruiz would be a lot more dangerous.

The dude can take punches, like you said, I dont know what he was thinking that AJ was just going to sit there and take punches.. you could tell that AR was not happy and frustrated that he was being outboxed

Exactly! Nobody in his camp ever wondered "well... what should we do if he doesn't get close"? Pretty basic question/thought...

Personally I'm a nobody, a nothing in boxing, but one of the things ingrained in my brain is my coach shouting "cut the ring, cut the ring, don't let him get away!". You try to cut the ring, say, 20 times, and you are really successful only once. Still, one time is better than zero times, especially for somebody with fast hands like Ruiz. Maybe you can do a little damage. Then you try again 20 times, and so on... and it might, just might, add up to something significant. Not saying cutting the ring would have won Ruiz the fight, but it would have given him at least some more opportunities.

I don't think AJ was caught in a corner even once in this fight. Maybe he was, but I don't remember it. He was only a few times in the ropes, and he got out quickly. Ruiz has quick hands, but average speed feet, so it was easy to get away from him.

Exactly, he tried to do it once, to push AJ and cut him off but he didnt go all the way he just went back to the middle of the ring, waiting.. and waiting..

    Like, so many.
I heard him on Rogan after he won the title and I just had a feeling he might have too much fun as the newly crowned champ. I can't blame him. Who knows how I would handle success like that. But I was I was really hoping he would train harder than ever, dial in diet, and really show us what he could do.

Anyone have any ideas on who Canelo will fight next? He's my guy and I've been following him since 2009, and it's crazy seeing how much of a better fighter he becomes after every fight.

I'm predicting he will come back down in weight and fight Derevyanchenko. I honestly do not want to see another GGG fight.

I enjoy wilder so i will be rooting for him. I think he will come out more aggressive and try for the knock out early and often. I don't typically get ppv but may need to for this one
