Two Jungle sets to go.

 

It's been a busy week, so the latest order has sat untouched until this morning. Decided it was time to build the Ship in a Bottle.



I thought the ship itself looked kind of weird in the pictures; it's almost weirder in person.



I can't recall seeing the headlight brick in clear in any of my sets before, and this set comes with 48 of them.



There is a bit of a color variation in the clear parts. Some had a cooler, slightly bluish tone (above, left) while others were a warmer tone (right).

Other observations:
The large clear quarter domes are loose in the box and had some scuffs from rattling around. Also, almost a third of the parts count consists of tranparent light blue 1x1 round plates that are dumped into the bottle to represent water.

Desite what may sound like several gripes, I think it's a neat build overall. It definitely makes for an interesting piece on the shelf. I'll probably pick up at least another primarily for the clear parts; I have some spaceship ideas for them.

 

Why did my local store still have the 60yr of Lego set? Well they did and now I have more Lego.

 

I’ve seen a few reviews and all seem to have the color variations on the clear bricks. I’ve also seen many people putting everything under the sun in the bottle. I enjoyed seeing a person put a micro Millennium Falcon in the bottle.

 

And he’s back at it.

 

I have a mini Millennium Falcon! Maybe I'll have to get 2 "Ship in a Bottle" sets.

 

Year of the Dog promo set is now available for free with the purchase of $50 or more from Lego. It's a pretty nifty looking set. It won't be everyone's cup of tea.
