I haven’t posted in a while, finished up the Hogwarts Express finally. I had to contact Lego for a missing piece on the train then as we were building the platform came across another missing piece, just kept building. Man this thing is huge.

    Help!

I busted this guy out from storage and it isn't running. There's power going to the controller but the 2 engines I have won't move. I've tried each engin on their own and then both on the track.

Some of the plastic has worn off but the wires seem intact. I wonder if the metal on the tracks and wheels need to be cleaned? If so how?

The dimension and layering/thought towards brush strokes is pretty cool.

Try a rubber eraser. Like you used in school to remove pencil.

Works wonders on tarnished electrical connections.

I'm just guessing here but, it looks like the metal in the two wires are touching each other in a couple places. That will cause a short circuit. The controller can probably sense that and is not supplying any power?

It's not super dangerous but, it is risky since could cause sparks if used like that. Wrap the wires with electrical tape or even scotch tape to see if it works.

So here's how you could repair this, if you're handy with a soldering iron.
1 replace the wires, or 2 clean the wires up, snip one end of each, slip over enough heatshrink to cover the whole length, resolder, then heat shrink the whole length.

I agree they were closely colored in the instructions and my dark living room and that made it difficult

anyone else feeling kinda "meh" over current sets? after the big release extravaganza in august i'm just not that interested in anything else right now. i figured there'd be more realeases this time of year but so far nothing's spiking my interest.

I've been indifferent since summer. Haven't bought/built anything since the Galaxy Explorer in August. Generally just don't care about Lego anymore and have been focusing on other hobbies.

I’ve been looking at ‘bargain’, retired sets and MOCs. Trying to keep the LEGO interest narrowed as best I can. Prices going up they are helps too..
