I definitely understand how you feel. I’ve been able to pass on most sets. However the Chinese new year sets are a must buy.

you get pretty heavy into the MOCs though - thats a whole other commitment for sure! good to take a break if you're getting burnt out. are you still planning something new for your brickdays or whatever you call it?

the pricing hike sucks but even that isn't whats keeping me away. just too much licensed stuff and nothing unique out there right now.
is it too much to ask for a new camper or cabin set?!?! or now that we have the Delorean could we get Marty's Toyota truck?
those have never been on my must have list. most of the seasonal type stuff doesn't interest me though.

Honestly not sure if I'm going to Brick Days next year. If I do, I'll try to finish up that farmhouse I was working on earlier this year, but I'm just not feeling it. Already started packing up the Lego area, and next year I plan to go to more model contests instead of Lego stuff.

I've scrolled past a lot of meh in the new offerings too.

You all seem bored. So here.

I've been doing an analog MOC of this. This is f'in hard.

Two different wing attachment experiments, two different main gear section experiments, both retractable/rotatable 90 degrees, neither perfect. The port wing is two studs wider (chord fore to aft) than the starboard wing, which was my first attempt.

I'm fed up trying to resolve the main gear up retention and down rotation into a stable forward lock. I almost have it nailed on the port wing where I'm integrating the pivot into the front spar structure, but when retracted, the black bracket stop that provides gear down position ends up sticking out too far below the wing. Accommodating the root gullwing structure back to level at the main gear, then having to integrate that while considering where and how outer gullwing folding attachment points will work spatially while trying to keep the whole wing from being comedically thick is quite the challenge.

Also, pretty happy with the angle at the fuselage, but the outer wing should have a shallower angle, so I can't just replicate the structure inboard at the level gear section. And then don't even get me started about smooth plates in that valley between the inner and outer wing sections.

So I thought I'd take a break from that and start mocking up the R2800 radial engine, mount, and cowl, which I had already fiddled with early on. Then I glanced over at my son's Mandalorian forge. INSPRIATION!

have you ever tried studio @scocar ? pretty easy to learn the basics. when i was building my camper MOC I did do a rough mock up with the pickup truck just to check how the scale of it looked mounted on the truck but i didn't really change much from what my virtual model was.

I've been researching the various modeling software and their pros and cons. At some point I'd need to do that just to figure out the inventory, let alone what fits and what other pieces may work for me.

But also I can't wait to get away from screen time after work.

We've got millions of diverse pieces, and it is all disorganized, despite my best limited efforts against a second grader and his friends. I think the big Mustang is the only model he hasn't dismantled, because I won't let him.

But yeah, I think this is definitely a model worth... modeling. Maybe after Christmas.

And yeah, to your point, getting a feel for what is achievable at different scales is def a hands-on thing for proportions or seeing if you can base a complete model around a certain few key pieces. Because you always have to go up 2 studs in scale, for the most part.

Well I broke down and did it. Got the Galaxy Explorer from Walmart this past week. For $75.00, I wasn't going to pass it up.

Best value in a set in a long time, IMHO, especially at that price. It was a fun build.
