If you do the math, if it’s more than a 5% off it’s not worth the VIP points. So since most sets usually get 15-20% I say go for it. I’ve bought some sets recently off Amazon that were 20% so screw VIP points, unless it’s at Target where you can get 1:1 VIP until the end of the year

 

Who can quickly school me on "powered up"?

I'm looking at the main street christmas set, which says you can use a motor and tracks with the trolley, which sounds fun in my mind to go along with the last few year's in the display, but looking through the lego website is confusing on what I'd need.

So I'd need this for the motor ($14):

And this is where I get confused. Can I just put a 88010 battery box ($35) on the motor and use the switches on that to control? The instructions for powering it up specifically call for a "Hub" ($49) that is both more expensive and out of stock, and then I'd also have to buy the remote for it? ($23)

Going with their recommendation it'd be $86 plus tracks, but if the battery box straight works then it'd be $49 plus tracks.

Any good aftermarket alternatives? I haven't powered anything Lego for probably 20+ years, sorry if these are some ignorant questions.

Never really was a fan of the Brick Head series but a friend bought a set for the wifey for her birthday. Now I have the urge to get the other 3 in the HP collection.

 

Nada. I did contact Customer Support to see if Best Seller PAB orders apply to VIP awards (VIP Terms were vague.) I was informed they do not.

 

Likely this Wednesday, didn’t get to the Lego store over the weekend as I thought I would.
