    Just finding this thread. My 5 year old son is awesome at putting sets together. Got a train station for Xmas and built in in like 3 hours by himself. I lost tack of all the sets he has, but has about 60' of track, three train engines, etc etc.

    Sorry, can't help the person with train troubles, kid and wife built them. His are still working after a year. Check the wiring inside, would be my starting point.

    As for the train issue I had, I figured it out by just playing with it and it all worked out. Thanks for asking though.

    My son also started at 5. He did the combine for his first build and now builds anything and evverything. He built a camp ground with water falls for his camper canoe set and did a video on it.
