Awesome will look into those! Where did you get them from? Also what tie rods did you go with?

I got my bushings from Wheelers Offroad. They say on their site that one of them requires a certain size metal sleeve that doesn't always come in other kits so just ordered from them to be safe. I used Moog tie rods (inner and outer) and LBJ's. I got all of them from Amazon. I know some people hate on anything that's not OEM, some with legit concerns, but I've never had any issues with them. I used them on another 1st gen I had in the in the past and my brother put them on his 3rd gen runner he had with no issues. I don't really daily drive mine as I ride my bike to work most days so I'm not piling up the miles on mine anymore. So I didn't see dropping the extra cash for what I think is the same thing.

Sweet, I'll look into the moog tie rods and those bushings. There is a 200 dollar difference in total between the parts  I may have to go with moogs at this point... Even though the failures people experience with the moogs are more prominent. Damn, but don't want to skimp just because I am cheap and have to pay more later

edit: goofed on my math ~150

I can't say for sure but I would imagine that if failure would occur, there would be some warning signs prior to that. It doesn't seem a BJ would just fail out of no where w/o making some audible noises. You can always check them every few weeks to ensure they are working properly as well

That is true! I guess I was under the impression that they do just fail out of no where.

With your moogs did you add zerks as well to be able to grease them?

Yeah, IIRC they came with the zerks to just screw in before you install them

Due to the dozens of failures of aftermarket LBJ'S that we've seen pictures of on here, I'd recommend going with OEM LBJ'S or at a minimum the 555 manufactured LBJ. I believe 555 makes the OEM LBJ for Toyota but they also make an LBJ that is not quite OEM spec but it's substantially better than the Moog LBJ.
Someone here actually cut the different makes of LBJ down the middle and analyzed the info. It was awesome. After seeing the different LBJ builds and quality on such a crucial component on our trucks, this is one place I'll stick with OEM. But on that note, have we never found an actual ball joint separate from the assembly that we could swap in for the old?

Thanks for the info! That would be cool to see the middles of them. I found the 555 on Low range offroad and it is right in the middle of price range. Probably will go with them then.

Yeah the poly bushing will stiffen up things to make it more responsive. When I got mine aligned, the guys at the shop showed me how much movement the rack got when turning the wheel with the old stock bushings and then again after I installed the poly bushings. It was crazy how much of a difference it made.

I know this place is and OEM circle jerk but I replaced almost all the suspension components with an ebay kit. I think I got the Detroit axle kit with Inner and Outer tie rods, dust covers, upper and lower ball joints and paid like $100+.

For that price I don't care if the break, its easy to replace. I don't do a lot of rock crawling but spend a good amount of time up and down steep wooded creeks and terrain and certainly not taking it easy. I have not had an issue with any parts yet. They have taken a beating in both impacts and the ling-term effects of concrete-like dirt/mud drying into everything. Great place to save money or have spares....

Edit: I also have some Energy suspension Poly Shackle bushings still in box if you are interested....

    x2 for Energy Suspension bushings.

For the LCA bushings, the metal insert stays in, so I ended up burning the oem rubber ones out with a butane torch, and make sure you clean up the inside real well afterwords. lube and slide in. done.

And by the way, MOOG parts are legit. I've had them for many years, with absolutely ZERO problems.

How long did it take to torch them out? A lot of the other methods sound way more difficult
