Canadian Military conducted a review of " Corrosion Control Programs " on Military vehicles in 2007 as to which product provided the BEST protection. I was very much surprised that the product I had applied to my vehicles performed rather sub par (Rust Check) when compared to Corrosion Free which I had never heard of in the past. The BIG RED FLAG was the product was only available and applied by Canadian Tire in my area. Ask any Canadian as to what their thoughts are on having them do any work on your vehicle...well...I wouldn't let them work on my lawnmower...however...I had a good chat with the kid that was doing the application and told him to "show me your BEST work" and there's a $20 tip in it for ya. I've been going in for the treatment for over 10 years now and always satisfied.

1.Rust prevention varies from highly effective if applied to new cars, to marginally effective where rust has had years to establish itself. 2. Established rust can be slowed down considerably from spreading further, but it's tricky to stop completely.Rust is auto-catalytic, so once it’s established, it tries to catalyze the formation of more rust. That's why we have all seen rust starting out as round brown spots on a fresh piece of steel, and continue to enlarge even when the original external cause is removed.Once a single molecule of rust forms, it catalyses formation of more rust all around itself, and so spreads out from invisible, microscopic nuclei.Removing it completely is very difficult, so the optimum strategy is to prevent it in the first place. 3 .Rust prevention is as effective as the people applying it.So, it is best done by someone knowledgeable and conscientious. 4. A small omission by a rust-proofer can seriously compromise your car.Choose'em carefully. 5 .Everybody has the best rustproofing chemical in the business. They are probably all pretty good, with small differences in effectiveness. 6. No chemical can discourage rust if it's not applied. It's like lottery tickets -if you don't buy one, you can't win. 7. Dirt and rust are synergistic. Some estimates hold that 50% of rust is started by bacteria.Soil bacteria (Clostridium tetani -lockjaw bacteria) actually derive energy by catalysing the rust reaction.Cleanliness is next to shininess

What do you get extra from the shampoo girl?

I would do corrosion free if there were other options for shops who spray it near me. Ended up having Krown do the truck this year.

    Very nice post!

I have been putting Corrosion Free on my rig since day 1, and not a bit of rust on her. How ever I am lucky enough that a private shop other than Canadian Tire applies it in my city.

I always re-apply it like a maniac after I pressure wash the under side of rig to check it for any damage after snow wheeling. I love that you can buy it in small spray cans, makes it so easy to apply myself.

Always Tip the guy spraying is a big pointer, my rig looked like it took a bath in it this year when he pulled it around front. My ARB bumper loves rolling around in the anti rust goodness :cookiemonster:

I can't recommend enough to also spray up into the weep holes in the pinch seam on your rockers and cab corners too. I also spray up into the drain holes in my doors once a year with Fluid Film, followed by a little Liquid Wrench corrosion inhibitor. I feel the lower viscosity of the Liquid Wrench, lets the stuff creep a little better. I like to do this when it's about 90 degrees outside. The stuff in the doors weeps out for several weeks and actually creeps up the outside surface. I have to wipe it down some but I figure it's creeping up the inside as well.
My '98 T100 is still rolling around Des Moines with my nephew, 310,000 miles and the rockers and cab corners are solid. The doors are starting to rust out on the bottom since I never thought to treat them so many years ago. Before I knew any better, I sprayed the frame down with WD-40, and it was better than nothing. It actually did better than you would expect from all the comparison videos you watch now. I had the truck for 17 years and when he took it to his mechanic, the guy said the truck looked great for the year and mileage it had on it. I think it was at about 267,000 at the time.
