You just want those extra EAF points. Honestly though...how many times ya'll have drained both batteries on your truck and not been able to start it? Single battery running a fridge on a hot day with the truck parked...okay yea...makes perfect sense.

so I have run down one of my batteries my AUX. my fridge ran it down on a hot day at work it almost killed my AUX battery my starter was fine since they disconnect. this would be more to keep the AUX topped off.

    Exactly.

After my last camping trip I left the fridge on and full. Well after 3 days back and forth to work the truck finally killed the battery. Only way to start was the aux bat. And since the drive is too short to keep it running this shound so the trick. And this doesn’t work I’ll go to a mppt controller and do have enough space for another panel behind the antenna.

Besides my truck is EAF through and through!

Oh! And let’s not forget the electric heating element in my water tank for winter camping!

First off, remember that I'm just giving you both shit and will probably add solar to my set up in the next year or two. Dual batts are first for me.

Your fridge must be drawing a lot more than mine. I have had no problem parking on a hot day after a short morning driving and it firing right up. Except one time i left it on regular A/C setting running on 12 volt...that left my pop starting down yankee.

In all fairness, this is behavior that is kinda outside of what you do normally do on a wheeling trip...and honestly what do you expect if you're not leaving it on a charger and daily driving back and forth to work with a fridge running.

I'm most concerned about real estate on the roof, but seeing Josh's panel it looks like they make a thin sheet of solar panel you can roll out. Is that your plan on the hood?

    :notsure:
Doubt it his draws any different than ours. Don’t remember a ac/dc switch on them....
Our fridges draw ~5amps per hr.
In 24hrs of being on it’ll draw 120amps. Most batters have a reserve capacity of ~120ah. So assuming the fridge draw is constant it’ll kill 1 battery in under 30 hrs. And the alt max is 140 amps. It’s not gonna do that long, so maybe 70 or less amps. So running the truck most of the day will keep it charged, but short drives dosent produce enough power to fully recharge a battery.

Real estate wise I can still fit 1 more of these panels for a total of 200watts of power!
They do make a few different sizes. Some are longer and skinnier than others.
Hood wound be good if I didn't have a Skoop

So after making a new tranny crossmember that is tucked up tighter, the original skid plate no longer fit. It was 1” to short.

    Well not no more!!!

Now with extra ground clearance for the mid skid!

I’m using the tcase out of a 4th gen v6 4runner. It’s got a Torsen type limited slip. It can still be locked to act like a normal part time 4wd tcase.
