Also own 2004 Sierra, 2004 Express. Dumped Chevvy for Toyota, as the wifes new ride. The paint peeled off the Express, after 5 years. Their attitude was "bad luck".

    Welcome!
    I dumped GM as well.
Had an 06 Sierra that was nothing but trouble.
My 96 Chevy with a 350 was a great truck.
Only GM product now is my Nova.

Just wait until you hear about the paint quality on Tacomas and Toyota’s complete lack of caring. You don’t have white paint so you should be ok though.

    Good luck
    And congrats !
The paint thing has nothing to do with Toyota . They don’t make paint . All manufacturers are having some issues with white . I think the EPA and water bounce paints combined with environmental stuff is the issue . My truck is going on 5 years and it’s been 100 percent

Also recently jumped from Chevy, sold my 2017 Colorado for a TRD Pro. Miss my old truck, served me well but my new one is definitely easing the transition

You are not the first person to say this. Working in construction where everyone drives a pickup truck, the guys who hang on to them longer term seem to have issues from Ford turbo’s going out to Chevy transmission issues to name a few. I know a few dudes who switch from Chevy to Ford and back again due to some costly issues. Funny thing is I seldom see anyone with a Tacoma. I want to say it’s due in part to the ‘buy American’ attitude in these areas. The problem with that thinking, in my opinion, is most components in American built autos are made overseas. One could argue that some Toyota models are more American these days that a Ford of Chevy.

Back in the 50s and 60s American car companies thought the world would forever fawn over their products, while the Japanese worked feverishly with discipline and methodology to improve their product lines for quality.

American car companies were approached with these same methodologies but turned away the experts, so they went overseas where they were welcomed and the methodologies were able to flourish and evolve.

It feels like American car companies are complacent, wanting me to buy on patriotism and loyalty, but not quality. I like the innovation and design, but the execution fucking sucks.

Meanwhile newcomer Tesla has the most American made car.

    - I could not agree with you more  after an accident, I bought a Ranger to save money a few years ago and within the first year ended up paying about 1/3 in repairs of what the damn thing cost.

Folks seem to think that shopping at both Walmart and Target supports the American economy. Take a look at where the products on display are made and think again.

Nowadays the phrase ‘Buy American’ has become an empty bumper sticker slogan with little meaning. While there has been some effort to make things here in the states, the truth is completely different. Even some utility companies are not owned in the states. I think our country has the ability to build things. The political side tends to prevent it from happening.

Boy, now I feel like I completely derailed this welcome thread. My apologies to the OP.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
When I see MB emblems on posty trucks, I know we’re doomed. Hey, welcome op and congrats!
