    Just sharing.

6 months old and only 10k, you can see how new it is by looking at the paint.

-45 here today. It completely ejected all its oil during inspection. It was actually foam.

Hopefully, the oil didn't slop over and trash the drum shoes.

Who’s to say you can’t wear flip flops in -45 degree weather?

But I am jealous of your weather. Not of your almost dead phone o_O

I've worn shorts in -40*, seen hookers in mini skirts and a jacket in -25*.
    I do miss Alaska sometimes.

I worked in a food warehouse when I was 17, we used to see who could last in the freezer the longest in their tshirts.

    I got pneumonia.

Can confirm. Have blown 5100's and Fox 2.0 Resi from driving in less than -30°C temps. Fingers crossed on the Elka's!

I had an 82 with 7" of lift and 38" tires. Several times during a harsh new england winter I'd snap the lower shock mounts in the rear because the Rancho shocks would be just about rigid. Those older rigs the lower shock mount was incorporated into the ubolt plate for the leaf spring. I used to scour the boneyards and gather a pile of spares each fall haha. Non synthetic oil viscosity dramatically with temperature fluctuations

I’ve never heard of shocks failing due to cold. Do you have an explanation? Off the top of my head, I’m guessing the viscosity of the oil increased so much that when combined with an external force of great enough magnitude (eg a bump), it blew the seal out. The seal might have become brittle as well.

This is exactly it. Too much internal pressure from the piston not passing through the oil quickly enough combined with no flexibility in the seals.
