Need the advice of some of the TW experts.

I'm at about 9,850 miles since my last (and first) oil change. Dealer can't get me in for another 10 days and I was planning to drive to Casper to watch the eclipse this weekend. I imagine I'll put another 600-700 miles on the truck this weekend.

Should I be concerned about putting additional wear on the engine? We could take my wife's Subaru but I'd rather not take that for obvious reasons!

I'm kinda anal like that but I always used to go 5000 miles on my old Nissan that recommended 3000 miles intervals. I'm guessing I'll be fine but this 10k interval just has me a little concerned since it's already pretty far.

Guess I could just go pay an independent mechanic.

    You're fine.

A lab test would show you have several thousand more miles of life.

I continue to use 10k as a conservative number that is easy to remember, but I also like knowing that a couple of k over isn't an issue, in case life gets in the way.

Also, road trips are the absolute easiest wear on all systems, steady state running/temps/conditions are as efficient as it gets.

You should be good. There's too many OCD people on this forum who will tell you otherwise.

We used to have a car that we changed the oil once every two years. The piston rings didn't allow carbon to penetrate down the cylinder walls. So even after 6 months, the oil still looked new. '72 corolla. 800k miles RIP.

Your fine. Also doesn't your dealer have a oil and lube service where you just drive up first come first serve? We have that here. It's takes a bit longer but they get it done without an appointment.

Yeah you should get first oil change free at 10k. You're probably fine but getting real close to oil filter capacity
