We have had Little luck with aftermarket cats.
They always come back not only from our shop but also from local garages.
Once the factory cat is on they don't come back. Sorry for your issues but this last post confirms my reasoning.
Some guys swear by them but I can't.

I have a 02 Tacoma with the 2.7L. I have 157,000 miles, not too long ago I got a P0420 took it to dealer they said I needed new cats. Quote I received was $2500!!! I just replaced the front o2 sensor and rear o2 sensor, now no more code. By the way this is the second time I have been told to replace them, the first time I did this time I haven't so far.

I was quoted 1800.00 a couple of years ago. I will do the spark plug fouler mod this weekend and see if that will work.

Jesus! $1800-$2500!...though it's the dealership; can't say I am actually that surprized. Thanks again for all of the input. I have an appointment at the last shop I took it to, the beginning of next week; it's still under warranty, so I figure I might as well let 'em fix it for free. How about cleaning my injectors? I have my doubts about any kind of 'cure-in-a-bottle', or fuel addititves. They just seem too Billy Mayes for me; like just another way of swindling me out of 'only $19.99'. The only reason I have any kind of cash in my pocket is because I don't often let people BS me out of it...I learned quite a while ago that the trick to making money is to save it (not waste it). I'd like to eventually do a few modifications to my rig, but I want to make sure I have a solid foundation to start with; I don't want to polish a turd. I'm not saying my truck has been a turd; it has taken good care of me over the years and I love it. I think you all know what I mean. Thanks again, all of you!!! I'll post an update when it gets back from the shop.

We know what you mean. You can always have an independent shop do your cats using oem parts. That may save you some $$$ But if you have a warranty definitely take it there. Maybe work out a deal with those guys, tell them you want oem parts and maybe they would be willing to put the $ they are gonna spend on fixing it towards the oe cats.
Just a thought. Hope you get it all resolved.
