Excessive cranking before start?

Sometimes when I go to start my 05 taco v6. It cranks forever and no start. I than stop cranking it and go to start it again it cranks same but starts right up. Anyone ever have same problem. I have 82k miles on it. Help!!!!

 

check your charging system (the battery) We have that problem with nissan and it ususally ends up being the battery. have you replaced it any in the last few years?

 

how long between driving the time before the problem and starting it when the problem comes is it?

i think it could be the engine just trying to get oil pressure...

 

there is actually an "extended cranking" tsb out for the 2nd gen tacomas. go to the dealer and tell them you want them to look at it....and print and take in a copy of the tsb. i had it done on the 06 i had...makes a decent difference when they reflash the computer.

 

It has happened cold and hot starts when it does it it doesn't do it all the time
it does have new battery. Does these trucks have a crank start sensor?

 

yeah my dad's truck is pretty hard to start as well...the 1GR-FE...
