Do you do a lot of short trips where the exhaust doesn't get hot enough to evaporate the condensation?

If your exhaust connections are that rusted in less than than a year, I would keep a closer eye on your frame welds.

I would bring it up to them asap. Rust on certain components isn't usually covered. Better to go in with less miles and have it documented atleast

yeah, that looks pretty horrible. It is an obvious defect as the exhaust connection just up and behind it to the right is fine.

Now you have an excuse to get that pipe rerouted for more clearance.

OP thanks for posting this. I checked and its a three ring shit show. Rest of the truck is spotless other than the excessive fluid film,. Under the film it looks new.

I noticed here in Cali it is mostly Bee's doing the windshield damage!

Reviving this. Are most people seeing this on their tacos? I know this is prone to rust.

I'm in SoCal, far from ocean.

He’s Utahan- perpetual salt spray under his truck driving the plowed roads every winter.

We’re lucky in So Cal- cars never rust out here.

I’m disappointed though, thought those fittings were stainless as the pipes are too. That crossover pipe is dumb, and there’s another reason to get rid of it. In doing my reroute, Im going stainless on the fittings too.

Look at my above post, I'm in SoCal. Rust is normal on certain parts, but mine seems advanced, no

I'm probably over thinking it, just was curious if most are seeing this in non-salt and non-ocean environments, on a relatively new 3rd gens

Sorry- reply was about OP- Oh, thats normal operation for the truck.. :p

Ok, so (besides some car parts) cars never rust out in So Cal... Looks like you’ve earned a free exhast upgrade. I would definitely take that in for a warranty replacement.

Mine looks worse than OP’s, par for the course of driving it thru 2 winters of constantly salted roads. When it gets really bad I’ll replace with stainless steel.

I thought the factory used aluminized steel. My exhaust has always rusted like the OP but it's never bothered me since, well, it's always done it. I put anti-seize on any bolts when I do exhaust work but it's just futile.

Would high temp paint work? On clean parts, anyway- too late to stop rust without getting rid of all of it first...
