Exchange new 265/70/17 for 275/70/17 3" lift please help!

    3" lift, ebachi coils, 5100's with top plate spacer and differential drop.
    First...very sorry for another repeat tire post...second I need yall's experience. I'm finishing up the install on my 05 lb dc 4x4 Tacoma. It's ebachi coils, 5100's with top plate spacer for full 3" lift. My wheels and tires will arrive in a day or so which are 265/70/17 bfg at, on 17x8 o offset American racing 890's. After reading and reading forums, I feel like I should send the tires back for a 275 or 285. I just don't want tires to small, I'm ok with minimal trimming but just dont want to chop the truck all up and don't want it to ride terrible along with bad mpg which is why I went 265/70/17. But everything I read is that it's just too small with 3" lift. I'm leaning towards sending them back when they get here for the 275's possibly the 285's but don't jnwo if it's worth the hassle, and don't wanna put them on and then not be able to exchange them when they end up looking stupid because there too small.

    IMO, when you install them you'll like them & not gonna swap.

    I am happy with my 275/70/17 Hankook ATm's but next time I'm going to try 255/80/17 km2's

    I think I saw somewhere that you had 265/70/17 before right? If so from your opinion did the 265/70's look too small for the 3" lift? I just don't wanna send the other tires back but I got the lift finished today and love it but don't wanna kinda ruin it with tires too small. Also was there much trimming for the 275's and why do you think most people dont run this size? Thanks

    Here's my truck with 265/75/16's (same as 265/70/17) with 3" Lift. Shitty pick because of the un-level ground

    I'm putting 285/75/16s on it Tuesday though :)

    No trimming required for the 275's , no rub on my flaps or LR UCA's either

    Both look great to me. Honestly kinda hard to really tell the difference, obviously I think the 275's look better but I don't think the 265's look too small. Really just concerned power loss, did you notice much power loss between tires and is there a need for rehearing with the 275?

    I didn't notice any difference between them as far as power loss , but they are both E rated tires

    What do you guys think about 255/75/17 in relation to 265/70/17 or the 285/70/17...seems like a happy medium right?

    Well never mind, from what I read this will give me a "pizza cutter" look...really want the 275/70/17 but don't wanna get e range tires cause everyone says there reall heavy.

    i have a 1st gen, but when i bought tires, i went with 265/70/17 b/c i was stock height at the time. now with my 3" lift, i wish i would have waited on tires so i could do 285/70/17 for a beefier look.

    it doesn't look bad, but when i park next to another taco with 33s on, i want them too.

    i like the look of the 255 over the 265 which looks to small with lift and for weight my 265 are 2 lbs heavier per tire. so i lost 8 lbs going with the 255s.

    Those do look good! Well the rims and 265/70's bfg at will be here in 3 days and I think I'm just gonna sell the 265's brand new and probably go with 275/70/17 Goodyear wranglers. I saw a truck today with 285/70's and it was awesome...just a tad too big for me. I think 275/70 will be perfect and might help with trimming.

    Any opinions on 275/70/17 gooduear wranglers...really going with these cause I can still get them in c load 6ply vs all the other 10 plys. Thanks for any ideas in advance trying to make the riht decision the second time now lol.

    sometime to keep in mind is that the BFG AT has a more square look to it so it tends to look bigger/wider than other brands at the same size.

    my brother's 265/70/17 BFG AT looks beefier than my Maxim Buckshot and they're the same size.

    Hmm ok, didn't know that. Don't really know too much about all of it but I d know I've spent alot to get the right look, and I don't wanna skimp out at the last minute in tires tok small. I think what I'm gonna do is before I remove the 265's I'll post pics in 3 days of them and hopefully some of you guys will be around to help me decide. Guess. Won't really know until there on there. Thanks guys

    Yeah I think your right, it's a 10 ply though and from what I read it's pretty rough ride. Goodyear makes it in a 6ply.

    Homertaco grill, Light Racing UCA's, 2.8" front lift (5100's at 0.85 setting and Eibach springs) 2" AAL with rear 5100's, Wet Okole seat covers fr/ bk. 17 x 9 Incubus Crusher wheels w/ 4.5" backspacing. 30% tinted front windows.
    Take a look around. 265/70-17 Duratracs look much larger on the truck then you would think due to the lugs on the sidewall. I measure the ones I just bought (which aren't on yet) and they are exactly 32" tall, and about 11" wide. When I have them on my rims I suspect they will look great with my 2.8" of lift.
