Exchanged 3" Spacer lift for 5100's/Eibachs

    I bought my 08 DC TRD OR a little over a year ago. It was my first actual truck and though I've driven 4x4 suv's in the past, I didn't know much about lifts. I just knew it had a 3" lift on it. I drive 60+ miles a day and the vibrations and overall rough ride left something to be desired. After discovering TW and researching lifts, I decide to go with the 5100s @ .85 & Eibachs with top spacer (1/2" DS, 1/4" PS). I also added a carrier bearing drop. I also changed out my bald Mickey Thompsons for Nitto Terra Grapplers (still a fan of "Letters Out").

    Measurements
    Before
    Front - 22 3/4" DS, 23" PS
    Rear - 23" both sides (1/2" block)

    After
    Front - 22 3/4" both sides
    Rear - same

    For anyone considering a spacer lift, I would tell you not to do it. My truck rides like a new truck and I couldn't be happier. The vibrations are totally gone. Some of it was the fact that I probably needed an alignment and my tires needed to be rotated, but not all of it. My truck handles the road so much better and small bumps no longer shake me all over the road.

    Thanks. I was hoping it would be a drastic change...which it has been. I feel like this is what it would have driven like stock.

    when you say you were having vibrations what sort of vibrations? i ask because i have a spacer as well and considering getting rid of it too.

    Sorry guys I had to get off the site a little early last night. My wife and I have a 2 week old little boy, so I don't get to stay on TW as much as I usually like to.

    I'm running 275x70x18's. A little trimming was done before I bought it and I've had to do a little more since exchanging the lift and tires.

    I was having real bad wheel shake at 45-55 mph and some up to 70 mph. It was bad enough that I felt like my brain was being shoke out of my head if I laid my head against the headrest. I had an alignment and of course my new tires were balanced, but I think the carrier bearing drop has made the most difference. I've had the tires balanced before and it helped some, but not much and not for long.

    im having some issues as well planning on replacing the tires as soon as funds permit with a set of michelins ms 2.

    vibrations around 45 mph i currently have firestone destination mts and they have worn very uneven even with rotation every 3000 and having my alignment done alone with new lower control arm bushings and inner and outter tie rod ends

    I'm really happy with the Nitto's so far. They are much quieter than the MT's. I think the carrier barrier drop really helped b/c I felt like the vibrations came from the center of the truck.

    i have taken the entire drive shaft out had it balanced and gone through by a driveline company and it made no difference. took the driveshaft out drove down the road with the front end pulling same thing. so i know its not the rear driveshaft.

    Thanks. I've got the 5100's in the rear with an 1 1/2'' block. I debated an AAL, but I liked the height I had in the rear already and wanted to leave it alone to start with. I'm still happy with it. All I ever pull is a 4 wheeler and I don't haul much, so sagging is not an issue.
