My new to me 2002 single cab 2.7 Tacoma needs a new muffler. I see Walker has a stainless muffler/tailpipe for about $100 is this the best bang for your buck exhaust or is there something better? I just want it to last a long time i am not looking for performance it's just a little 2.7. But if i can get a cheap stainless cat back for a little more money that will last longer i will go for it.

Are there any muffler shops near you? You might just head to one and see what they have. They could probably throw something together for you for a couple hundred.

Where do you live? Is rust a major concern? If not, conventional steel should be adequate, too.

While researching exhaust options i came across a post on a toyota forum that said BOSAL made the TRD exhaust for Toyota. I have seen BOSAL exhaust sold on rockauto and figured they were cheap chinese stuff but are they actually good? Or is BOSAL making the TRD exhaust fake news? I have always used Walker when i get a cheap replacement exhaust they generally seem to fit pretty well. But now i am considering buying a BOSAL stock replacement if they are a good enough company that Toyota uses them. Thoughts?

Hadn’t heard that, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

But just because one brand makes trd stuff too, doesn’t mean everything from them is high quality. I’ve seen posts here talking about moog, 555 and oem balljoints all stamped with the 555 logo. 555 might make them all, but they are different production lines with varying quality control, etc...

I use Walker stainless systems that I bought from Rock on other Japanese cars without issues. They cost more, but I've yet to have a problem and they are running for over 5 years now. If i need a new exhaust for the Tacoma, it will be a Walker stainless system.
