had the MBRP scheduled for tomorrow to install. After lots of reading on the subject (thanks to this forum and the countless pro/con threads)...I cancelled the appt.

maybe one day when I get to sit inside another 3rd Gen with an exhaust installed to hear/feel the results...I may change my mind...but seems a bit much for this kind of conservative owner at this point...plus I had this truck for only 2-3 weeks...and we are still getting to know each other :)

Magnaflow all the way. Better stainless and sound.

Funny thing is my Flowmaster Super44 sounds better than both through the throttle range and it is cheap.

FWIW I run the Flowmaster American Thunder dual outlet system on mine,I also did the URD y pipe w/cat delete. The drone was obnoxious until I installed an 18" 2 1/2" spiral louvered glasspack?resonator in front of the muffler. It is very tolerable now,it flows great and sounds good when you get into it

Get which ever one adds more horsepower, typically a good exhaust will add anywhere from 100-200 HP.

Magnaflow for me. No issues. I painted mine with high temp black paint. No issues with chipping. Good sound.

Hmm, interesting to see this thread surface again. I’ve got the Magnaflow full cat back (19291 part #) I installed it in 2016 and have somewhere around 70,000 miles on it now? You hear it when you get on it and it’s definitely noisy if you’re turning 3,500 rpm in 4th on the highway going uphill or against the wind. But other than that when cursing 2,500 or below it doesn’t interfere with my stereo at all.

I do have the OEM Audio + system however so it’s easy enough to turn it up if you need to as it’s a pretty loud speaker/amp set up. But I’ve got my toddler with me 90% of the time so the radio is usually kept pretty calm and the exhaust isn’t so noisy that I can’t hear her clearly in her rear facing car seat in the back.

This is exit out the side though, a turn down could be louder as it echos off the road and back into the cab. So that’s something to be aware of.

I took my mrbp off after a week. It was a little too loud for my taste. Now it’s collecting dust.

TRD Pro is in my opinion the best sounding, deep, no drone and very smooth when at wot.

Have the mbrp side exit for 2 years now. Drones a bit for the first few months then settled in. Ended up chopping it over the back axle when I installed my c4 high clearance rear bumper. Much quieter but still rumbles. Also without the tip on, it didn't drone nearly as much. I sound deadened the cab and now I only hear it when I step on it. If I could do it again I'd skip the mbrp and save up for something higher quality

Cant comment on putting it on a Taco, but I had an MBRP 5" turbo-back on my Cummins before I had this truck, and I thought it was great. I loved the sound. It had a little drone, but that was covered up by the Cummins. I got the stainless steel one, and after 7 years of Michigan road salt, there wasn't a spot of rust on it.

Im sticking with stock exhaust for now on the Taco, but I would feel comfortable about buying an MBRP system again.

My choice would be neither one, I'd look at Borla!
