Clay bar did not do much for mine.

Any other suggestions on how to clean it off?

After 240k it is really noticeable on my Super White 2006.

Go have some custom pipe welded like I did-either run them to the end of the body or run it straight out under the bumper:)

Subbed. I noticed this the last time i washed my truck. If anybody has succesfully gotten it off, let us know what worked. I have tried car wash soap, bug and tar remover, and a pretty nasty soap used for RVs all to no avail

Try Mr Clean magic eraser...worked awesome for me. Little elbow grease and one of those takes it right off, then hit it with some soap/ water and your done.

I wanna do that to mine. How much did it cost?... Or did you do it yourself? I see you still have the stock exhaust, did it change the sound at all?

    I wanted an MT.
I went to advanced auto today, one of the guys helped me out, turtle wax buffing compound, it's brown and medium gritty buffed it in, then applied more with some force, and it came off. Hit it with some mothers wax when I finished looks good as new.

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
    Bed is fiber reinforced plastic.
Exhaust gets hotter than sunshine. Lost a tailpipe on a 3/4 ton chevy. The bed got very toasty after that.
It's the exhaust discoloring the paint, not so much the heat. A turndown tip pointed at 45° angle down and to the rear will direct the exhaust away from the flare.
I don't have this problem with the flares, since they aren't painted. It does disciple the mudflap, but that comes off with 303 aerospace :)

I'm on my second white Tacoma. Both had/have this problem. Toyota for sure knows about, but doesn't want to do a fix. It doesn't actually burn/damage the paint. It's a layer of oxidized crud. Best cleaner I have found is Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. It's a fairly safe abrasive cleaner. Sometimes clay works, sometimes it doesn't. By the way, clay isn't magic, it's abrasive too. I do "hit" this area regularly with a good cleaner wax. This helps some.

I have that same problem. So the other day when the truck went into the local exhaust shop to get a new muffler(magnaflow) I had the guy extend my tip out a few inches. He just welded on a stainless steel tip from a bigger exhaust pipe. I told him I did not want a shiny chrome tip. It looks really good. Looks like it came from the factory like that.

Just over 30k on the clock.

Glad I’m not the only one but if this is paint fade and not contaminants, then I’m not too thrilled with this exhaust design.

However, it is more than an eight year old problem that Toyota has not resolved....just sayin'. Problem has existed with all Gen 2 and Gen 3 Tacomas.
