Exhaust dump before axle

    Most cars and SUVs have the vent low in the rear quarter panel, a few inches above the exhaust tip... The vents have flappers designed for outward venting.
    Law seems pretty clear - axle dump is compliant because it's behind the cab.

    But yeah it's pretty funny for Nissan to be mentioned by name and written into state law.

    I think you missed this part -
    NOTE: Exhaust pipes must direct the fumes to exit from underneath of the vehicle to the sides or rear most area.

    ^No. Note 1 would be in direct contradiction with Note 2 and therefore unenforceable. Toyota's regulatory compliance team would've combed over the laws before making the axle dump OEM on 4th gen Trailhunter.

    I mean, at least I don't think Toyota has restricted the Trailhunter from being sold in VA?
