Hey guys. Bought a Tacoma recently with a little rust in Massachusetts. Only 2019 13,500 miles. Its just the front of the truck with a little rust. Thes rest of the truck is about as clean as it should be. How could I get this taken care of correctly? I was thinking undercoating and having someone deal with the rust?

It’s a high heat area with a bare steel flange. There’s not much you can do to stop that from rusting

With a hand chipping hammer or chisel knock off loose rust, replace bolts with stainless bolts/washers/nuts (one bolt at a time) spray with high heat paint.

I went the stainless bolts on my tundra exhaust...its fine when time to replace the system making it easier to dismantle, but nothing really long term can be done. Even these stainless exhaust system will rust away. Short trips will cause them to rust sooner.

good luck getting those stainless bolts out after they have been heated up a few times. The kit on the flange is welded to the flange also. FYI

The undercarriage and frame from the look of your picture looks pretty rust free. There's not much you can do for the exhaust hardware other than replace periodically if it really bugs you. The actual exhaust piping will always look like that in the North East.

Keep it clean and salt free as much as possible during winters month.
    Enjoy your truck.

Leave the exhaust. For the rest of the rust, if it bothers you, a wire brush and your favorite brand of rust treatment paint (POR 15, Rustoleum, etc.). Then spray the frame with Cosmoline, Woolwax, Fluid Film, etc and touch it up once a year. And not worry about it.

Yeah, i'd be more worried to protect the frame from getting worse. I've seen guys pull the entire exhaust, and ceramic coat it, yet after a few years even that eventually burns off. When the exhaust becomes toast on my trucks, it gives me an good excuse to install something better.

Rust is cover under warranty, did you try to take it to a dealer? My Tacoma is a 2020 with 35k miles, the exhaust flange looks very bad.

I think that coverage is for the body and frame.
