Exhaust heat shield removal?

My 2010 DCSB Off Road has some miles on it.. The waffle type heat shield material that is attached to the underside of the cab has basically become completely detached from the mounting posts. It's barely hanging onto the truck. Given the distances from the exhaust piping up to the shields, I can't see how these things are really that critical. Specifically, I'm talking about the 2 shield pieces from around the transfer case on back, after it is just one pipe on the passenger side. I'm trying to decide if I can:

A) Just pull the shields out
B) Should try to reattach them somehow
C) Spend a weekend trying to remove them, clean up the mounting posts, remove all fasteners, get all new parts, put new shields on

 

Nothing scientific here, but any heat I can prevent from making its way into my truck on a hot Texas day is a good thing.

I’d suggest C, with a temporary B.

Mine is starting to rattle also. Does anyone know the bolt size for the existing stud? I have a feeling that if I try to remove the existing nut it will break the stud clean off the body.

 

How do you even take it off? Mine got some dirt stuck in it and made it rattle
