    Hello all,

Going to be ordering the Doug Thorley header kit with y-pipe for my 1999 Tacoma and 5vzfe.

Does anyone have any exhaust kit recommendations that work well with the DT headers?

    Thank you,
    Chris

Don’t. All headers are useless and a waste of money

I'm getting a rebuilt engine installed along with a Supercharger, plus my stock exhaust already has my cat cut out from it being stolen, so I need a new exhaust anyways.

Im referring to the header. It’s pointless and you actually will lose boost pressure, I did. Many people run into leak or fitment issue.

All the other posts I've seen, people only say headers are pointless for NA engines. For boosted engines, you are the first post I've seen of someone saying new headers are worse than stock.

Thank you for your input, but I would still like to get some recommendations on some kits.

Less boost does not mean less power.

Again, I would like to go back on topic please. You've said what you have wanted to say, but I'm still getting new headers and would like to see if anyone has any exhaust kits they recommend.

it’s Friday if you’re saying less boost don’t equal less power. Can’t expect a 10lb boost to make the same power as 12lb

@02hilux let people do what they want so they can learn after dumping $500+ on header to find out there’s leaks and an associated check engine light :D

as back on topic like you wanted, any exhaust system system fit if it’s designed for the vehicle unless you’re buying it from eBay with an unknown brand

I have an MBRP turndown exhaust, but changed the muffler to a Magnaflow 12246. TVS1320 supercharged with TRD Headers, absolutely love it.

You can if you make more HP per pound, by making the supercharger more efficient, which improved exhaust flow can do.

The SG is still pumping in the same volume of air into the engine.

I'm also going with the 70mm SG pully, which increases psi by 2 over the stock pully, so not only will my supercharger run more efficiently, it will still put out the same amount of boost pressure.

    Awesome, thank you!

Checking MBRP's website, they don't list anything for the 1999 model year. I wonder how different the layout is between 2003 (which they have listed) and 1999. From the photos, it looks like it would be located in the same exact spot as stock for my 99. I may shoot them an email asking about that.
