    Hi I am looking into doing exhaust in my 2016 SR 5 Tacoma.
    Some questions for you guys.

    Will exhaust cat back be hard on the engine at all? Does it put a strain on the engine? The exhaust shop says it will be good for the truck and not have adverse effects.

    Does a lift of a couple inches impact the gas mileage? How will it impact handling on roads?

    I want to keep the truck a long time and don't want to do any mods that will have adverse effects on longevity.

    I've got the MagnaFlow cat-back on mine and haven't noticed any issues whatsoever other than it being louder and shinier. If there's any performance gain or loss it would largely be unnoticeable. Should not affect long term reliability, and if anything it may last longer than the stock muffler if it's a good stainless system with T304 or T409 steel.

    A lift will impact your milage due to added drag, and a lot of the time larger tires that go along with it. Not always though, my '09 5.7L Tundra averaged 14.7 MPG combined bone stock then I added a 3" front 1.5" rear lift plus grill guard and kept the stock 275/70/17 tires and it was pretty much identical after the lift. But it had a lot more power than the Tacoma does to deal with it. I'd imagine at least a 1-2 MPG drop with a lift on a 3.5L Tacoma. Hopefully someone with one will chime in with hard numbers.

    Regarding the lift though, please don't go the cheap spacer route. I did the first time with my Tundra because it was cheap and I was in a part time job with school and all. While it works it typically makes the ride a bit worse and my turning radius decreased too. I'd go with a ToyTec or Icon lift myself if I do it on my Tacoma. A good suspension lift from a reputable company would be the best. If not that, then at least some better shocks like the common Bilstein 5100's would be better than a spacer block.

    I have the Magnaflow too and I think with the TRD air filter I can definitely feel better acceleration/response. No lift yet ... probably will go with Bilstein 5100's once they come out for the 3rd gen.

    I have a 4" lift with 285/70 r17 nitto trail grapplers and I'm avg 13.5 in the city. Exhaust is next.

    You guys using the Magnaflow...I'm looking at that kit, (single) and was wondering how loud it is. I don't want loud, just a mellow tone.

    Toytec lifts use 5100's. Im runnning a Toytec Boss 3" lift right now. Rear AAL. Good package if you don't do any hard core, ridiculous off road stuff, but can still handle be going out in the bush etc while on road feel is nice. Im running 285/70 R17 BFG K02. Exhaust is next once I figure out which is right for me. Plus some lighting upgrades etc...

    it might raise your testosterone levels and you might need bigger wipers for the panties that will be thrown at your truck

    the lift with bigger tires will improve handling especially in bad weather, it makes my truck feel like a tank but it does come at a price. you will lose gas mileage, mine averages 15-18 mpg depending on my driving habits. as far as longetivity an exhaust wont affect that and lifting it a couple inches wont either

    My parts guy just said;

    "When it comes to the aftermarket exhaust options I would say magnaflow is my favorite as they give you a nice balance of sound and performance at a good price. Strictly performance speaking the borla is unmatched."
