If it's low end then there's certainly going to be more than if there's none - but there's gonna be a loss of high end if the cats are in place. I'm not saying adding cats you will get more power.

And a cts-v has a corvette engine.. Of course a taco is gonna seem gutless:p

The V is the slow car of the two (Taco + V + MR2, V's for sale). But yeah, I'm still waiting to see a dyno showing more power with stock cats vs high flows - really curious, not being a dick.

So does anyone have any advice on something more for sound instead of razzing me on my choice of exhaust?

I had a Magnaflow something-or-other on my old truck. I liked it. Sorry, don't remember the model :(

I love my Aero Turbine 2525! I think it has a much deeper sound compared to other exhaust.

Why is this so? I have a flowmaster by the way and I am intrigued.

Flow master - a master of flow. Back pressure is not considered in the making of this. Therefore your low end on an N/A engine is non-existant

Oh, I knew that. It's just the way that you worded it that it made it sound like flowmaster was different than other muffler brands in terms of back pressure.

If you go to a 4" exhaust, you're going to lose exhaust gas velocity and potentially decrease performance. You can maintain gas velocity by not going to a huge exhaust pipe - but for anyone who claims changing a muffler out at the end of a stock exhaust system is going to "take away all your low end", I want to see that dyno sheet.

Hell if I find a hookup with a dyno, I might do back to back runs with a new muffler just for the fun of it.

Flow master opens up the exhaust more then any other mufflers. This most power loss

    That's a nice article but we aren't using a Chevy v8.

Chris4x4 did test on 4-5 mufflers and every one showed a loss in power. We aren't talking massive power losses. Just small from 5-15hp. Flowmaster showing the most loss and at the time dynomax turbo showing the least. Magnaflow wasn't used.

I noticed loss in low end torque and power. But gain a lot in my upper band.

Why not just cut off the tail pipe before the axle leaving on the flowmaster. As said above it will make it more noticeable on the cab. Reason you think you arnt heating it is because I bet tour tail pipe shoots al the sound out the passenger side like most of us have.

I have a gibson I had to cut it off due to my dakars and some rust mid way along my tail pipe its loud.. and not ricer

yea cutting it at the axle will make it much louder in the cab. Mine is piped out(thank god) and its nice in the cab..but when you drive down town and it echos off the buildings..you know its loud then..haha

Well, I guess nobody here believes in dynos, just speculation and hearsay.

'til then, I'm out. Have fun.

I have no money for a dyno. Complete exhaust swap, and then another dyno. If you wanna donate to the cause:rolleyes:

Excuses and dodging, hiding behind others...sigh. You've been loudly proclaiming your argument without any evidence at all - apparently there's already been dyno testing? You said Chris4x4 is a reputable source, do you have the dyno sheets?

I want to see how much torque is lost in the low end of the powerband, considering two stroke engines are really the only ones that need backpressure. I highly doubt you're going to feel 3ft-lbs. Butt dynos are not very accurate.

I doubt there will be any back to back dyno sheets with the same environmental conditions showing just a change in muffler (not entire exhaust), so this is probably a futile post. If I needed a new muffler, I'd be really tempted to go drop 50 bucks for two dyno pulls and do them back to back within 20 minutes, but I don't need one. 5hp is within variance ranges for dynos. If they're done on different days, or on different dynos, results are not comparable. Jet is different than Dynojet, which is different than Mustang, etc.

But again who actually goes and dyno's there vehicle after an exhaust change...
