Gentlemen (and Ladies), it is time for me to fork with an exhaust system, again. I put a muffler on my wife's JK Sahara a few years back when University of Tennessee won a bowl game. I had just broken my hand working on my '62 Dodge M37 Military Power Wagon, so it was a terrible job.

Now, around 2005 I put a very nice CAT BACK Pacesetter system on my '94 Toyota Pickup (pre Tacoma) that worked out very well. Is there a reasonably priced stainless steel system, hopefully fairly quiet for a daily driver? 2011 AC, 4x4 4.0 motor.

What seems to confuse me is where the system is welded and where it is joined. There seems to be a straight piece of pipe from the cat to the muffler, and the muffler and tailpipe are a one piece welded assembly?

If I want to be loud, the 68 Dodge Utiline pickup has header and glasspacks.

    Howard

and what does a TRD system go for? and a $100-$150 you bought your's used?

I have a buddy who works for Borla, perhaps he can get me a discount on one of their fancy systems.

I believe you have a point there, their performance since Butch Jones left has been disappointing.

They go new for about $350. I'm pretty sure Borla is who makes it for TRD anyway.

Looks like the TRD exhaust systems is available via my local Toyota dealer, I wonder what they will charge for the unit and install

The install is pretty easy. Should take maybe an hour to do yourself.

probably like my 94 toy pickup, two bolts at the cat converter rear flange and rubber hangers.

Sounds like the same setup. Should order a flange gasket also.

There is a slight HP increase, not really noticeable though. Maybe 3-4 HP. The muffler itself is smaller than stock, but doesn't seem to be much lighter.

It's louder than stock, but not obnoxious. I can't hear it on the highway, but can hear it if you step into it.

Well, my local Toyota dealership is awfully high on the TRD system at $510 for the parts, the Borla 410160 is $566 from Summit, but since the Borla plant is ten miles from the house, I can pickup the system there, no shipping and use my buddies employee discount! That might be the way to go, versus the Walker system from Rock Auto.

For those that might still be looking, this is where I got mine: https://toyotaparts.bochtoyotasouth.com/oem-parts/toyota-trd-exhaust-system-pt91089061

These guys are relatively local to me, so I was able to drive down and get it, and didn't have to pay for shipping, but you may be able to use the link to price match at your local dealer.

Also, I guess the HP gain was a little more than I originally thought: https://www.trdusa.com/parts-detail.html?p=PT910-89061&years=2007&models=Tacoma&categories=Performance Engine&subcategories=Exhaust

That's insane. Like I said earlier, try to get a price match from your local dealer.
