I'm not on a quest for a total blackout or anything, but that was a big chunk of chrome...

Started this project tonight...alas the rain, darkness and shear fusion of the tip to the pipe got the better of me...will give it a better go tomorrow.

Omg you did all that work when you were just supposed to cut the exhaust right after the bend over the axle. You had one job.

    Nice! I like that.

Does the paint look good enought o do the rear chrome bumper as well? I want to cover that thing up somehow until I have the time to build bumpers

The paint looks fantastic...will see how it holds to tire kickback as time passes...as far as your bumper chrome I think your better off using plasti dip

I feel for you. I had the same pain when switching from the chrome to black chrome tip. I recommend the WD40 and an extra dose of patience. Oh, and a hammer.

I spent a few minutes struggling to get the chrome tip off this morning before throwing in the towel. Will take another crack later with WD40. Did the black tip go on easier than the chrome one came off?

Wd40 large flat head screwdriver and a hammer...lots of patience. After painting mine went on hella quick. You just need to see how it’s held on with the split bracket on the back end of the exhaust tip...then it’s easy peasy.

I think the biggest issue is to separate the “fingers” under the clamp somewhat. They are originally spread to fit over the enlarged tailpipe and then compressed a bit by the clamp on the two crescent spacers. If you don’t re-spread them a bit, they will drag until they come off the crescents and then continue to drag along the entire expanded portion of the tailpipe.

A picture is worth a thousand words...

I was able to pop the crescents out pretty easily with a flat head screw driver and a hammer. It was the flare in the tail pipe that got me. Will try the WD40 and using the flat head to pry that end open again. Glad to hear the new tip should go on a little easier.

Well today was a different experience. A little WD40 and the tip slid right off, more or less. New one went on super easy. Whole process took about 5 minutes.

So, does this void warranty? and how much does it change the tone?

yeah it changes the tone. it will resonate under the bed and may cause huge resonance in the cab, but it's different with different exhausts.
