I've had a flowmaster muffler for a while and I never bothered putting on an exhaust tip. just today i brought it in and had the last 10 inches of piping cut off and an exhaust tip welded on. Call me crazy but the exhaust sound seems a bit cleaner. Is this possible or is it just mental?

x2, unless you had some rattling in the tail pipe for some reason before.

sometimes they can, but i believe the general rule is that it has to have a minimum length of 12 inches, and not be just plain old shiny tubing. some tips will actually have a glasspack style construction (i used to have one like this), so you can see where with a longer tip an glass inside you could slightly alter the sound (a very small amount mind you). check the tip they welded on, if it's just shiny single wall tubing, i'd say your crazy though :p

haha, not as bad as me. I painted the tail pipe on mine (dumped behind axle) with regular spray paint. It smelled pretty bad from the paint burning off for about 3 days after lol.
