For just the sound- You'll probably get told Flowmaster mufflers...No need to do a cat-back system- just a replacement muffler.

Dynomax tends to give a decent sound and some performance improvement too.

There are lots of options out there- so enjoy the hunt!!

not set on a cat back but ive herd the trd cat back sounds real good. the only problem is i dont know anyone with it so i cant hear it in person.

was thinking of doing a flowmaster single in dual out and just dump it right under the bed so no tail pipes are coming out.

Not to offend anyone, the others were just to loud for my taste. I think the magnaflow and flowmasters sound better on something with some compression and a cam, again, imo.

No one should get offended about that. It's your truck-if it makes you happy...Good to go.

For the OP-Getting more sound at a good price- You don't need to spend 300-600 on the cat-back set ups-80 on a good muffler and a few bucks more for welding and you are all set.
If you hunt around a bit I'm sure you can find the actual manufacturer for the TRD exhaust...and just get a muffler from them...

I went with Brunes advice a while back and instead of buying the whole costly system just replaced the stock muffler :). Cheaper and very satisfied.

That's funny- Cause Brunes hasn't even taken Brunes advice yet. I have yet to find a shop that looks and acts professional in my area- and carries Dynomax.

I'm still looking tho....and I've got the cash to drop on it when I find that shop!!

i dont need loud. loud to me is those dam pontiac or mustang guys that put a fart tip on there v6s and it just sounds like an oversized 4banger. a low deep sound that i can hear on acceleration is good enough for me.

anybody know of any tacoma or toyota events that come around jersey?
would like to swing by a show and hear some exhaust in person.

I just installed the Gibson side Swept cat back exhaust on my 08 Tacoma. I also did not want to loud. For me the sound is just about right. In fact , you really cant tell the differance until you start accelerating. Even then there is no resonationing in the cab. I ordered it from Autoanything. I got it 15% off plus free shipping. I recommend the Gibson if you dont want it to loud.
