i really want to get a performance exhaust on my taco, and highly considering a flow master, when i was in high school my camaro and gran prix had flow masters but they were actually called 1 chamber, 2 chamber and 3 chamber. now they have the numbered( 40 series etc). i want a good deep tone but not obnoxiously loud. what diameter pipe would you guys recommend along with the "series" of muffler. single in dual out 50 series with 2.5 inch pipe sound about right? i dont want to lose too much back pressure.

Drill a few holes in stock exhaust, drive, drill a few more until desired loudness.

No risk of not enough back pressure.

This is seriously a question for any muffler shop and no online forums. Performance exhaust is misleading.

The trd exhaust. Only one that sounds good with these motors IMO.

The TRD exhaust is the only exhaust I have personally heard that has a sound I like enough to consider as well, but I can't say it's the only as I really haven't heard too many. It sounds greats at idle and start up but wasn't obnoxious when driving.

I agree with others, can't stand exhuast sound from a V6 at all. But of everything I've heard, the TRD sounds best.

IMO, Magnaflows, Flowmasters and Cherry Bombs sound like an '80's V6 Camaro with a straight pipe on our trucks. No thanks.

I'll third that. I love my TRD exhaust. Sound is just the way I like it.

I went with just a flowmaster super 44 muffler on mine and I love it, sounds better than the trd exhaust in my opinion

i went with a magnaflow muffler and it sounds GREAT at start up and around 1000 to 2500 rpm. gets loud above that buts its very deep! im fairly happy. i honestly noticed some gains in mid and upper rpm as well, and a few mpgs.

    Howdy,
I havent heard on on a 4.0 yet but I had a Jeep with a V6 and added a 60 series flomaster. I researched and found that was the only flomaster designed for a V6. It was deep with no drone. It really sounded nice. No high pitched whine. Have a goodun!!!!!!!!!

    Things I need to tow.
The MBRP cat-back dual system with two Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonators in the front pipe is quiet at light throttle and while cruising, but beautiful when pushed hard. Honestly, too much to spend for a cosmetic system. But, it's certainly got the sound and the looks.
