Expect deeper sound from aftermarket intake?

I see a lot of people discussing whether or not adding an aftermarket intake (such as K&N) will add power or not.
I realize my 2.7 is slow and will remain slow unless I supercharge it ‍♂️
What I’m really looking for is a deeper rumble when I accelerate. I also realize I won’t get that out of an upgraded exhaust, but rather a Honda fart can sounding exhaust.

Just looking for peoples experiences adding an aftermarket intake to a 2.7 if they got a better sound out of it. I can share a Reddit video link as an example of something similar to what I’m looking for:

My buddy had a trails team FJ that sounded similar to that, again I realize I won’t get this sound out of my 2.7 :) Thanks

    It’s a Toyota 2.7L I4.

    Just leave it be.

The V6 sounds awful with an exhaust as well. No intake is going to make a real improvement in sound.

Is this coming from experience? I’m not looking for an exhaust, just an intake

What sound are you expecting to get from an intake? A “whoosh” on throttle input? You Won’t hear anything over road noise and general drive train clatter, AND with the hood closed it will muffle any sound. You aren’t adding a turbo.

These aren’t large displacement motors, nor are they high revving beasts.

An exhaust would only amplify the discordant mediocre sounds coming from the engine. Same as the v6. These are unsophisticated engines that certainly aren’t tuned for audiophiles.

Big (old) v8’s get away with sounding like rough shit Because they are moving enough air to create a loud enough noise. Your 2.7 doesn’t have that crutch. (Neither does the v6 for that matter).

I really am just looking for that woosh noise. But I guess that is not really achievable from what others say

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
And you have a CAI from the factory. Many aftermarket units that call themselves that really aren't.

Done right you could sound better and run worse. :D

I’ve done some browsing through the 4cyl section and find things that are mostly in the performance thread, definitely don’t want any losses in power. Thing barely gets out of its own way as it is. But for what it’s worth I have no complaints three months in and 2500 miles later

Enjoy the utilitarian simplicity of your truck. It’s a proven million mile motor. Focus on maintaining it, because nothing you do is going to substantially increase the inherent Performance characteristics of the motor (short of adding forced induction).

If you want performance and sound you should go buy an older gen 1 coyote f150 and keep it in sport mode.
