In average driving conditions, in hilly but not mountainous landscape (TN), what kind of mileage would you expect the stock brakes on a stock truck to get?

I know tire size, load, towing, etc will all impact that a good bit, but what's the baseline like?

    Thanks.

Too dependent on driving style to say. Hard brakers will cut through them much faster than someone who conserves momentum and uses engine braking a lot.

Although I'd say even the most aggressive of brakers should get at least 20k. This assumes no autocross or track days.

I'm asking because I have close to 30000 on mine. I just put 33s on, and I'm about to do a rally in the VA mountains that will be like 1200 miles in 3days... then driving to Colorado for a week in the mountains there.

They look ok, but not sure if they are ok for that much more hard use. Hard to tell.

My father got over 100k on brakes in his ranger, although the rear shoes were so thin you could have shaved with them.

I got like 15000 miles out of mine. Put Brembos on and 17000 miles (current odo 32,000) later breaks pads still look like they are at 80-90%

should be fine - I live in Nashville and spend a lot of weekends over in the mountains. yes I use engine braking when it makes sense but also can get the brakes a little hot. mine are barely worn after 27k miles so I'd expect to easily get 60k out of these minimum.

what do you mean they look ok? ;) brake pads are like tires its how much pad they have and if theres any grooves on the rotor. go to a parts store and take a look at a new set of pads, then compare them to yours. Front wear faster than rear.

Be sure to clean and lube slides for better wear and performance. Also clean and adjust your rear drums.

Your rear drums should last a good bit longer than the pads. Front differs so much. I've seen as little as 20k to over 100k on factory pads from various manufacturers. (Honda pads are known for wearing very fast...even have service bulletins regarding)

Just that. I looked without me ones too boltsare then to. The pads still have some cleaning groove depth in the middle.
