Wait until the recession get's into full swing, We'll see these things flying off like Josh's mattress on the 91 freeway outside of Corona that he decided to strap to the roof of his stance boi GTi because he had to move back to mom's house in Moreno Valley. The recency bias is the worst form of denial.

Awesome. But I said 5 years from now. I know they have been around but seems to be the latest fad.

They are expanding the landfills in most jurisdictions to make room for the influx of used rooftop tents. We need this issue on the radar. I may phone Oprah.

Ive seen a bunch of good deals in so cal.

Just my two cents but ease of use is my reason for going with a RTT. I’ve backpacked, car camped, bivouaced, slept in hammocks and all have their place. But I’m looking forward to having an RTT on my truck on a Friday so I can jam out of work and get to a site in the dark and setup easier. Two weeks ago I was setting up a ground tent in Joshua tree with tons of wind. It was miserable. I also don’t like to camp in one spot for long. Rarely do I stay in one place more than one or two nights. That time setting up and taking down a traditional tent is such a bummer. I guess everyone has their own reasons and ways to camp. I’m also going to build a pulley system in the garage to get the tent on and off quickly. And I always take a traditional (Mountain gear 4 person tent) as an extra “room” if I need it.

Did allot of research and here is what I found. lots of people asking 80% to 90%, but months later, still not sold on CL.

Sometimes the oppty is perfect and seller can get more for a very lightly used tent with a buyer who has done all the research and was about to buy new. Win win in these cases.

Most of the time, the high end models go for about 30% off MSRP and rarely see promo codes or coupons.
The mid grade models go for about 50% off, but the new models cam see 10% to 20% copuons, so it is about 30% off MSRP (with promo).
The lower end models can go for about 50% off.

Not a scientific study, and regional to Austin TX area.

I have a flip RTT on the back of my short bed, and tow a 5x8 Utility trailer with a hard shell RTT behind me.

The low hard shell is perfect for my older parents that just crawl in. Keeps us off the ground and compact.

I always take a large traditional tent, but dont plan on using it.
