Love the show..... I probably would have to live with a much cheaper rig. ;)

If I had the money or someone else was paying for it I would not live with a cheaper rig! Anytime I talk about buying something my buddy says "no balls" to which I retort "fund my balls and I will buy it all!"

I liked their channel but it has turned into a moneymaking platform for them to be shills of sponsorship. They haven't put out quality content in close to a year.

    This.

One of my biggest gripes is their recent sponsor Magpul which has defense contracts with our military to supply magazines for rifles.

I know Magpul is supplying clothing to these guys, but why bring on defense contractors as a sponsor to an exploration show?

I've been watching 4wd action lately... I do like XO but these guys are the real deal. More wheeling less cutting.. The xo team does open up some good stuff though for the locals .

If you look at their history, that's what they have been doing. They do a short trip one year, next year big trip, rinse repeat..... They should be doing the South America Leg later this year.

I figured it takes money and time to do those trips, they have sponsors, but it may not cover the entire cost of said trip with time taken away from their daily work.

I really enjoy what they put out and always look forward to their new stuff.

Personally I wouldn't care if they were sponsored by supercuts and had to spend a couple minutes talking about their new hair. It's a free show on YouTube with production quality that looks like it could easily be on tv, Netflix, etc. Im sure it takes a lot of money to make, and if I get to watch it for free I'll spend a couple minutes staring at stickers or general tires (which i now own a set of, in a large part due to the show) or clothing items, etc.

Not to get penis-e but military contractors might be made up of x military. They also might have alot of money from those contracts (which is required for such extravagant overland builds). Veterans and overlanding is like a single 30 year old and lonely masterbation (it just goes together). (Source: Me veteran me knows how I feel. *grabs another crayon out of the box and starts chewing it whole).

Also I carry when I go out camping. Bears bla bla bla no... people are the real fear (vile creatures).

Magpul was a small operation, and is now a slightly bigger operation, that produce quality magazines first and gun culture clothing second. To say the are a "defense contractor" because the DOD purchased mags at one point paints them as if they were BAE or Raytheon. Which they aren't. Someone turn off that "defense contractor" alarm. They produce shit for everyone.

Expedition overland was a good watch. I liked it. On a few occasions I found myself thinking maybe if they had ditched that absurd kitchen or that twice as absurd water purification set up, they probably wouldn't run out of fuel as often.

Tldr carry more gasoline leave the sous vide machine at home.

I own a bunch of Magpul magazines and products on my AR-15, but for this style of show, in my opinion, it just seems like an odd sponsor to have.

It's culture. They have a term, as silly as it is. "Gun culture". I too have magpul mags, but I won't be a part of that corny culture. You gotta take the good with the bad I guess.

A couple of them are actually on the forum here and pop in once in a while. If you follow their Instagram they are currently filming a trip in South America right now.

I was about to say what's wrong with these guys?? Don't they know the turd gen is not a truck or has a proper truck drivetrain and can't make it past a block away from the stealership??

They need to spend some time on here! Geezzz!!

And I did not see a snorkel for water fording on this one but they seem to have it on the 1st & 2nd unless I missed it

All else aside, these guys are my kind of awesome ppl.

I don't think they had snorkels on their 4runners either. For south America they actually got their hands on a new Land Cruiser that's pretty badass
